🚢🇯🇵 **Nine more days in Japan? YES, PLEASE!**

Today we’re back in Yokohama after an incredible first nine days aboard the Diamond Princess — but our adventure isn’t over!

Most of our fellow passengers headed home today, but we’re among just about 100 guests continuing on for another nine days. And for a little while, it felt like we had the whole ship to ourselves! 😂

We headed ashore to explore Yokohama’s charming Red Brick Warehouse shopping area, found some unique gifts, and captured some great photos of our beautiful ship.

Then it was back onboard to enjoy a practically empty pool and spa area, listen to our favorite guitar performer, and sip a delicious mojito before another sailaway celebration! 🍹🎶

One of the things I love about cruising is that every day can be a completely different experience — from exploring historic temples and beautiful gardens to simply relaxing and enjoying life at sea.

**Nine more days, more Japanese ports, and so many adventures still to come!** ❤️

👹🇯🇵 **Our first cruise port in Japan — and what an experience!**

Welcome to Akita and the beautiful Oga Peninsula!

We headed out to explore Mt. Kanpuzan and learn about one of Japan’s most fascinating regional traditions — the Namahage.

These dramatic masked figures, traditionally dressed in straw garments, are part of an important New Year’s tradition in this region.

We watched a Namahage performance, learned more about the custom, and even had the chance to dress in costume ourselves!

You KNOW this costume designer wasn’t going to pass up that opportunity! 😂

One of the things I love most about cruising Japan is discovering regional traditions and places that might not be on a typical first-time visitor’s itinerary.

Every port brings something completely different.

🌊☕️ **My office looks a little different today!**

One of the things I love about being a travel advisor is that I can work from almost anywhere in the world.

Today’s office? My balcony aboard the Diamond Princess, sailing around Japan! 🚢🇯🇵

But the travel business doesn’t stop just because I’m traveling!

My alarm is set for 6 AM because I’m working to secure SEVEN rooms at a fantastic price for a wonderful family’s spring break vacation at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. 🌴☀️

And yes, getting up early is absolutely worth it when I can help my clients create special memories together! So excited to help this family plan a special family Spring Break in Cabo!

So today includes a little coffee, some beautiful ocean views, a bit of work, and plenty of time to enjoy the ship.

It’s not a bad office, is it? 😉

🇯🇵 Another amazing day exploring Japan! ⛩️🍵

Today our Diamond Princess adventure brought us to Tsuruga, where we headed off to discover more of Japan’s fascinating history and traditions!

🏯 Explored beautiful Hikone Castle

🌿 Wandered through the peaceful Genkyuen Garden

🍵 Experienced a traditional Japanese green tea ceremony

🍱 Enjoyed an authentic Japanese lunch

🛍️ And found a little time for shopping in charming Nagahama!

Every day in Japan brings something new to discover, and I continue to be amazed by the beauty, history, and traditions of this incredible country.

👘❤️ **A Night I Will Never Forget in Japan**

I knew when we planned this trip that I wanted to find a beautiful Japanese kimono. As a theatrical costume designer, I’ve always been fascinated by the history, artistry, and traditions of clothing around the world.

What I didn’t know was just how meaningful wearing it would become.

After finding my kimono in Kyoto, I decided to wear it for formal night aboard our cruise ship.

And I dressed myself! Including tying my own obi — which, let me tell you, was quite an accomplishment! 😂

I was a little nervous about how it might be received. I wanted to wear this beautiful traditional garment with genuine appreciation and respect for Japanese culture.

What happened that evening was something I will never forget.

Throughout the ship, Japanese women stopped me to compliment my kimono, admire how I had dressed myself, offer little bits of advice, and share their enthusiasm.

Some asked to take photos of me. Others wanted photos together. I had the most wonderful time meeting women wearing their own beautiful traditional attire and sharing this special experience.

I felt so welcomed, and honestly, so honored.

Clothing is so much more than fabric and fashion. It tells stories. It connects us to history, tradition, art, and sometimes, to one another.

**This is why I travel.** ❤️

To learn, to appreciate, to connect, and to experience moments I could never have imagined before leaving home.

Thank you to the wonderful Japanese women who made this evening so unforgettable. 🇯🇵

🇯🇵 **His and Hers Shopping — Kyoto Style!** ⌚️👘

We each had something special on our Japan shopping wish list!

Mark was on a mission to find a watch, and I’m happy to report that he found one he absolutely loves! ❤️

My mission? A beautiful, authentic Japanese kimono.

As a theatrical costume designer, I was in heaven exploring the gorgeous fabrics, intricate designs, and craftsmanship. We even watched a customer being dressed in a kimono — what an incredible process!

Of course, we also made time to explore Nishiki Market, sample Japanese snacks, and wander through shops filled with wonderful discoveries.

I always love finding something special when traveling — something that brings back memories of a place every time I see it or wear it.

And this time, I didn’t have to wait until we got home to wear my new treasure!

🇯🇵 **WOW, JAPAN! You are even more amazing than I imagined!** ❤️

We’ve only been here TWO days, and I already have so many stories to tell!

🚄 Hopped on a bullet train to Kyoto just hours after landing in Tokyo!

⛩️ Explored beautiful temples, historic streets, and incredible sights.

🍜 Tasted delicious Kobe beef ramen and even cooked our own dinner along a riverbank!

👘 Shopped for authentic vintage kimonos, watches, and of course, plenty of Japanese snacks!

🚆 Navigated Japan’s train system all on our own — during rush hour! We were literally the only tourists on the train, and we made it back to Yokohama!

🌃 Checked into our hotel and discovered what might just be the most spectacular view I’ve ever had from a hotel room!

And that’s just the first 48 hours!

Today we’re heading to board our cruise ship for the next chapter of our Japanese adventure! 🚢🇯🇵

I have SO much more to share — the places, the food, the people, the little discoveries, and yes, the travel tips we’ve learned along the way.

**THIS is why I travel!** ❤️ To experience different cultures, discover beautiful places, try new things, and create memories that stay with you forever.
