Book Tour for Divinica (Mythmarked Book 1) by JP Roth

Genre: Fantasy | Paranormal | Thriller

Pages: 378

Publisher: City Owl Press

This was a great premise for a story. I really like post-apocalyptic/dystopian books and this did not disappoint. We follow Divinica who is living in a world ravaged by the red wave. It happens every 13 days and leaves a wake of radiation and destruction and everyone forgets who they are, who the love and what they are fighting for. But Divinica knows there is something important she is destined to do, if only she could piece it together.

I really liked the main characters and the way their relationships unfold throughout the story. It was so sad to see them lose each other and have to start all over again but also highlighted their love and determination to find each other again.

The arc of the story and how Divinica learns about the curse on the world and how she is the key to bring about saving what is left of the wasteland she calls home was really engaging. I really loved the glimpses of other worlds and other times in history. The myths and legends brought to life made it a really interesting take on stories of the ancient Gods that I thought I knew!

This is fundamentally about love, loss, grief and resilience and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in the series.

Huge thanks to the author, publisher and Love Books Tours for providing a copy of the book to review.

⚡️BOOK REVIEW - DIVINICA ⚡️
by JP Roth

THOUGHTS AND REVIEW

There was something about Divinica and her fighting spirit, which kept me deeply invested in her story, her complicated relationship with Valance (and her love for her brother).
And the overall mystery surrounding the red waves and her role into all of it? I was so intrigued. I've also always enjoyed myths and legends, so I was immediately hooked⚡️And while I always struggle with visualisation (you can imagine how difficult reading fantasy can get for me), I most definitely enjoyed the story.

I was also pleasantly surprised, when we started to get Valance's POV! It definitely filled in some of the blanks.
Their story was quite intense, but I'll blame the end-of-the-world feeling they had going on!

Final note: Tattoo, anyone? 😁

BLURB

In a world shattered by an ancient curse, memory is both a precious gift and a haunting nightmare...

Every thirteen days, the Earth is ravaged by devastating electric red waves, erasing all human memories and resetting time itself. For Divinica, this relentless cycle is a suffocating prison. Trapped in an endless loop of forgotten lives, she awakens in the unsettling Hadamar Psychiatric Hospital in Germany, each time with no recollection of her identity or the meaning behind the thirteen enigmatic tattoos etched across her skin. These symbols, once the sacred marks of long-forgotten goddesses, now pulse with a dormant power, hinting at a destiny far darker than she could ever imagine.

Now, the tattoos are stirring, as their ancient magic awakening with each passing wave, Divinica uncovers a terrifying truth: she is not merely a victim of the curse; she is inextricably linked to its origin, and holds the key to its potential undoing.

With each new wave of destruction closing in, threatening to obliterate all she knows, Divinica must decipher cryptic clues, confront formidable enemies born from the depths of forgotten ages, and unravel the intricate mystery of her own existence.

If you love dark, twisty fantasy with high stakes and unforgettable characters, don’t miss out on this heart-pounding, mind-bending journey.

💬 "Sometimes I think we might have it worse. To remember what used to be, and have no idea how to get it back?"

What a mind bending, gripping, fantastic story. Wow, wow, wow. I was gripped straight away and could barely put it down. Roth has built a fantastical complex future earth, destroyed by climate change and an ancient curse. Although the world took some time to get to grips with, that's exactly what this book needed. If it had made sense it would have been boring!

I loved Divinica, she was a fab, strong female lead, and I loved learning about her links to the ancient Goddesses. Her strength and desperation to remember everything she'd forgotten was brilliant.

This was a brilliant first book for a series, my only complaint is that I have to wait for book 2 and I NEED to know what happens next!

Divinica by JP Roth.
Mythmarked Book 1.
This was a good read. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. I found the cover creepy-looking. It's why I signed up for this tour. It did take me a few chapters to get into this book. I read this book over a few days. I did have to keep putting it down. I'm glad I kept at it. I wasn't sure how I felt about the characters. It was definitely mind-blowing. I am looking forward to the next book.

✍🏻 This book absolutely fascinated me. I got so invested in it & trying to understand why a red wave made people forget everything. The goddess aspect of this book was something I really enjoyed. Divinica is a strong FMC who goes through unimaginable hell reliving her traumas after each wave such as remembering what happened to her on that lab table. I really liked the character of Daniel & some of the things he said did have me laughing. It was interesting reading about the times when Divinica interacted with the Goddesses/became one with them. My one grumble is the to be continued at the end of the book.. I need more now 🤣
