🌹 having a nice time in chateau carlton. i’ve entered the realm of vivid dreams, poetry and existing by candlelight - and playing skip james at lunch time.

pickin’ this sunday at @lulietavern supporting @huckleberry_devilsdandruff and @magpiediaries101. tempted to play an entire set of haunted 12-bar ballads but we’ll see what the cards say. will have to ask skip too.

🌹 sending some records and letters of thanks to some far away shores today -

from ireland to goornong to adelaide to warragul 🌹
all sealed with a kiss and boundless gratitude for the support of the people who tell me to keep going, keep writing, keep picking .

last nite i pulled a bag from a bin (pictured) and opened it up and found this fresh bunch of roses in it and a group of women applauded me and it was all very heady and nice the end -

tonight i bring my bin flowers of song to the bergy band room, supporting tall poppies @skyscraperstan and @norwood.band !

In 2022, she released her debut project who am I not?, marking a decisive shift into music after changing career paths. Since relocating from Meanjin, Brisbane to Narrm, Melbourne, romaan has become an active presence in the local music community, performing solo shows and supporting both local and national artists.

jess parker is an old soul in a modern world. crafting their own unique brew of pre-war blues and deep, haunting folk - parker has staked their claim in record shelves across the country as an australiana balladeer mainstay, with 5 records under their belt and countless picking lines in their fingertips.

i had a gentle skip james possession recently where he told me to tune my guitar to open d-minor and write about something hard and true , because to paint with an old honest brush summons the true palette of our hearts , though sometimes harder to push across the paper because the water is muddy in the jar and specs get in the bristles . art is hard anyway, and sometimes you find remnants of old painful colours that were mixed and left for you for to use up - but it’s nice to bring a new hue to the memories and push them onto a fresh canvas of your own, letting them breathe at last.

this one is in the key of green. i’m grateful for my palette and all its shades. thanks skip 🌹 by @jpwhippersnipper

i wish to be eternally wrapped in wikyakali desert lace .

to be held in its thread of rembrandt cotton revelry . to be silently cuccooned til the tapestry becomes threadbare translucent and sepia worn - and at last makes its way into my delta veins - stitching out the map of my bloodstream , where all roads lead to the craftsman’s steady hands - the hands of the whirling silverton wind that spins the cotton just so , the hands of the friends who smile it into shape, and the hands of my heart who hold tight the patchwork of memory that always bring me back up the highway, 8 hours north, to the warming texture of song lines, lode lines, dust lines and home, to once again be held in the rembrandt glittery outback lace of the broken hill .🌹// ~ x
