Last week Andy & I rode ‘Lon Las Cymru’, Wales ‘end to end, loosely translated to Wales Green Lanes.
What a lovely adventure and we were blessed with glorious weather.

We started our ride in Holyhead, on gravel bikes with all our bags, after catching the train up from Birmingham.

day 1) rode from Holyhead to Dolgellau, weather was good but it rained overnight at our B&B so damp roads first thing on day 2.
Went through Snowdonia National Park after leaving Anglesey.

Day 2) Dolgellau to Talgarth & stopped over at The Griffin Pub, lovely meal & breakfast.
Lots of climbing today up and over the Cumbrian Mountains

Day 3) Talgarth to Penarth to the sea to finish, we had splendid views of the Brecon Beacons and again lots more climbing.
On the evening we met Mark & Laura (my relatives) for an Italian meal on the seafront. Lots of old memories in Penarth & Cardiff, was great to finish off Lon Las Cymru there. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Then on the last day we rode the 112 miles home.

Lovely bike packing trip next up planning on a tour of Northern Ireland in September.
(Total miles 372 miles 19,470 ft climbing in 4 days)
No mechanicals, just suffered toe blisters (from walking 2 days with Hugh on Offa’s Dyke!) so cycled with one shoe not clipped in for the whole of the trip as it was too sore/painful to unclip!

Lots of lovely photos I have attached( none of my said toe) 😂 #lonlascymru #walesbikepacking #walesendtoend #ribblebikes by @jrfowler61

Day 10 Final day of Offas Dyke walk Ruthin to Prestatyn. Hugh Finished it today in 10 days of hard walking.

I walked the last 2 days with Hugh and we finished at 3.30pm on the north wales coast.

This walk, 177 miles plus many many more due to daily mistakes of Hugh, missing signs etc has been one of the hardest things hes done, mentally and physically. Hugh remembers never been to Wales before for 10 days without there being heavy rain but this walk was in an intense heatwave and very draining. Hugh has found it the most amazing adventure with incredibly beautiful diverse scenery.

Hugh Allen decided to walk the length of Wales in memory of our Welsh mother and with us as all being born in Wales too was very appropriate.

Thank you so much to everyone that has sent him messages of support that has meant so much and inspired him to complete this challenge and to those who joined him for some of the days, Jane and Paula from work, Matt Steve and muyself at the end.

It's not too late to donate to Hugh’s just giving, hugh is very grateful to those who have already donated. Many Thanks
