Still processing the recent passing of the absolute goddess and bundle of joy, Hayley Gardner Newell, 2 years after her brain tumour diagnosis.

I was luckily enough to spend the best part of a decade sitting next to Hayley every day, favouring close friends over colleagues. Hundreds of coffee and croissant runs, hundreds of lunches gossiping about life, always unfiltered. Hundreds of glasses of wine in the pub lolling our heads off, at each other, everything (and everyone) around us. I can still hear her absolute CACKLE OF A LAUGH loud and clear. Cackling our way through work meetings, the terrible Christmas parties, cackling over a glass of wine after work when I accidentally leaked something to the press before embargo, cackling when we went to Paris for the weekend and ended up in McDonalds within 2 hours of being there.

Thank you for being the only person to consistently call me “knobhead” since high school. Thank you for all the Gemma Collins references and memes, Thank you for all those times when we stayed for “one more wine” and missed the last tube. Thank you for always being there. Just the best memories.

Hayley spent her last few weeks of her life at St Francis Hospice where she and her family were extremely well looked after. I’ve added the link to donate to St Francis Hospice in my bio for anyone who can consider a donation so they can continue doing what they do best for others in need.
