I debated posting this, but decided I really wanted to share this moment with everyone. As some of y’all know, we lost Mike a couple of weeks ago after a long fight. He asked me to tattoo this little eagle on him (years ago) and I thought he was completely joking, but turns out he had a tiny spot right on the arch of his foot free! So we stuck that lil dude right in there. It was just me, Mike, and Skyler at the shop at the time and damn was it a blast! Love how this photo captures the family we had. It’s weird and difficult getting used to him not being here anymore, but we all have memories like these to cherish forever. Hands down one of my favorite memories of this shop, especially earlier in my time here. I’m proud to carry on his legacy in the industry and so grateful for his friendship and mentorship. 💖 love you dude.

Jess Ritchie has been tattooing in Austin since 2019. She focuses on American Traditional work, but her street shop apprenticeship made her well versed in fine line and other styles too.

In her interview, she talks about the hours behind every original design, the connections she’s made with her clients, and how social media has become a second job just to compete.

Over the last few months I’ve done a complete overhaul of my flash. I tossed tons of designs and reworked even more, updating them to reflect my changing style. I added lots of larger designs but kept diversity in size to match whatever you’re looking for. I’m so excited to finally assemble them into a book for you to flip through.
Some are posted in my story highlights for a preview. Come flip through and pick something out! I’m so excited to do these new designs. Look forward to seeing yall. taken in Austin, Texas by @jritchtattoo

This one has a very special place in my heart—this is my sister and brother-in-law’s dog Miss Pickles. She passed a few months ago and I had the honor of doing a memorial piece for her. She was a sweet but super weird little critter, she liked to hoard random objects (pen caps, q tips, etc) in her little house, her tongue always fell out because she didn’t really have teeth, and she sounded kind of like a squirrel. Her personality was *much* larger than she was (like 4 pounds? Not sure). But we all loved her so much and used to joke that she’d outlive us all. I vividly remember the first time I met her. She was so small she fit in the palm of my hand and had to wear a bell so we knew where she was in the apartment.
I miss my little pickle and I’m so glad I was able to do this memorial for her. taken in Austin, Texas by @jritchtattoo
