We are so excited to promote a community-based BOMBAZO💥
as led and instructed by @yisela._ & @jrlee_216 – two amazing organizers, bringing to-stage the practice of our shared Afro-Puerto Rican culture, with an exchange of vibrant music, dance, and history❗️

Join us THIS Saturday, August 15th from 4:00pm-6:30pm at the Latin Us Theater Company. Let’s sing, dance, and spread joy together as we honor the ancestors who carried the tradition of Afro-indigenous Puerto Rican Bomba. We’ll have food, games, Taino face painting, and more 🙌

Family friendly - all ages are welcome!

This event will occur the evening after the city of Lorain’s Puerto Rican Day parade. We hope to see you at the intersection of Pearl Ave. and E. 31st St. in Lorain, at 12:30 for the lineup if you would like to march with BLC - and we encourage all to then travel with us over to 2937 W. 25th St. Cleveland, for an afternoon celebration💃🏽🪘

Free event, but donations accepted to support the performers.

STORMS RISE BUT IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL THAT MY STEPS ARE IN ORDER ACCORDING TO TRUTH SO THAT I MAY BE BLESSED BEYOND THE RIVER❕ WORD MEETS FAITH, AND SPIRIT IS SHOWN. MY ROOTS LED ME TO MORE KNOWLEDGE AND THERE I FOUND MANY WONDER; DELIGHTFULLY I WANDER WITH SO OTHERS COME TO WHAT IS KNOWN‼️FREDERICK DOUGLASS HAD A PERIODICAL NAMED “THE NORTH STAR” Dec 3, 1847 commemorating the guiding star used by ARAMINTA ROSS on the Underground Railroad. He also wrote a letter Aug 29, 1868 in admiration of her work.

ARAMINTA ROSS aka Harriet Tubman
Araminta is a rare English girl’s name with Old English roots meaning “eagle” and “protector”. It’s a combination of the names Arabella and Aminta.

Known for leading her people reclassified as black out of Chattel slavery. She used The North Star as a guide on The Underground Railroad. I myself think of her in context of “THE BLUE WOMAN” according to how the Dakota Tribe which originated along the Mississippi describes the Ursa Major constellation, which contains The Big Dipper asterism. The Big Dipper is used to locate Polaris aka The North Star located in The Little Dipper asterism. The Ojibwe interpret the Ursa Major constellation as Ojiig (Fisher). When you put the Fisher understanding with The Blue Woman interpretation this info gives you an interesting backstory of a popular rhythm labeled KUKU categorized within West African music as a rhythm to commemorate the fishers historically known to be women. 🧐🤔

Questions I asked AI

What is Pseudoscience?
Are Saliva DNA Test a form of Pseudoscience?
When was drumming outlawed in America?

* In the book The Drummer’s path by Sule Greg Wilson which is a great read. Was the drum truly mislabeled Indian as stated or is the American Indian identity of darker complexion people ignored once more by many.

*It is not enough to label anyone as African. Even people labeled African today adhere to tribal lineage above all which includes specific traditional practices.

Growing up playing drums in schools and churches to a naming ceremony in West Africa to drum classes and performances with Seniors… IM THANKFUL‼️
