Did someone say busy?

There’s an Autumnal chill in the air, which can mean only one thing: it’s time for a new season.

Almost 100 events across seven regions - and that’s not to mention #TheCatch, our podcasts, or any of the other exciting projects we have in the works.

We think it’s going to be a great end to the year.

Netflix’s long-awaited foray into rowing👇

Netflix’s new eight-part series Crew Girl feels like a rare opportunity to finally introduce rowing to a wider audience, presented from the perspective of a young female athlete.

It has all the ingredients for a story about women in sport, teamwork, ambition and the complicated relationship that rowing has with privilege.

Instead, we get a love triangle, old money, bribery, and an extraordinary obsession with stroke seat.

Asking the BIG questions👇

There is a version of this conversation that is conducted in hushed tones over a jug of Pimm’s at the end of a Saturday afternoon at the Henley Royal Regatta.

Whether British Rowing is heading in the right direction. Whether the right schools, universities and clubs are winning. Whether the same names keep appearing because they deserve to, or because nobody has found a way to dethrone them.

So, ahead of the 26/27 season, we thought we’d dive into some of the themes that we believe are emerging across the UK rowing community.

Some confirm what you probably already suspected, but a few might surprise you.
