āļøThe Magic Circleā€™s YMC Stage Magician of the Year āļø Iā€™m thrilled to announce that I am the winner of this incredible award. It hasnā€™t sunk in yet, and frankly, Iā€™m not sure it ever properly will. Iā€™d entered this competition for two years prior, this year being my third. I had always got into the final, but never placed top 3. The reason I wanted to place was for the opportunity to perform at @magiccirclehq for the adult Magic Circle magicians. I had never done this before, and after feeling a bit degraded from an act that didnā€™t place last year, I thought I would try something different. The act I performed was completely out of my comfort zone. It was big, flashy and so chaotic and bold that I genuinely felt uncomfortable at times when creating it. My ā€˜styleā€™ of mentalism is simplistic, meaningful and human - this was nothing like that. I created it to try and match the criteria for the competition; we were judged on Presentation and Appearance, Magical Content and Entertainment Value. I tried my best to fit the judging requirements, and created this movie-themed act that was completely different to anything Iā€™d done before (see the last photo šŸ˜³šŸ¤£). There are a few people I want to thank for helping me, not just with my act, but stage performing in general. Thank you so much to both @raffertycoope & @joseph_w_9328 for being such a good audience member on stage; to michaelvincentmagic and @brendan.pics for taking such incredible photos; to @alfielelliott_magician and #seb for helping me to see double; to @magicinatrice for being the best stage manager that I could have asked for; to @harrydecruz and @edwardhilsum for supporting me constantly, and thank you to @mberglas for not only encouraging young magicians, but for kickstarting my journey into magic. Iā€™m forever indebted to all of you. Itā€™s been an incredible experience, and so much has come from my time at YMC, and I know will (and canā€™t wait to announce!! šŸ¤«) come from this. So to everyone who helped, shaped or watched my act - thank you so, so much. But for now, itā€™s time to hang up my Spidey suit. See you around. by @jrwmagic

Iā€™ll also be performing in ā€˜Brian Conleyā€™s Big Night of Magicā€™ hosted by the legendary Brian Conley (of ā€˜Itā€™s a Puppetā€™ and ā€˜Prat Packā€™ fame!) the day before.
