NEWKIRK’S BARBERSHOP💈 Raleigh didn’t just know my grandfather.It knew his chair, his handshake, his laugh, his wisdom, and the way he made everyone who walked through those doors feel like family.He founded one of the first successful Black barbershops in Raleigh, North Carolina. But anyone who knew him understands it was never just a barbershop.It was a gathering place.Generations came through those doors. There were conversations about sports, life, faith, marriage, and raising children. There were prayers offered without hesitation, encouragement when people needed it most, and plenty of laughter that echoed through the shop.I was raised there.Long before I understood what legacy meant, I was surrounded by it.My grandfather didn’t just cut hair. He built relationships. He built community. He built a place where people belonged.His passing leaves a space that can never be filled, but the lives he touched will carry his legacy for generations to come.Thank you, Grandpa.Raleigh knew you. Our family loved you. Your legacy will never be forgotten.The Newkirk name will always be worn with honor. by @jrworldwide
