This was an extremely fun and especially challenging shoot produced by @startingeleven.us that had quite a few last minute changes and curveballs that led to some really creative problem solving. Filmed on @reddigitalcinema V-Raptor and LeicaR
Based on athlete availability, we had to film each athlete separately in different cities.
In San Fransisco, art set up the cubicles on a blue screen and we had Alex Morgan on site for about an hour to film all her scenes in the left cubicle
Our plan was to film Thomas Müller in an actual office space in Vancouver, build our cubicle on site, and add Alex Morgan’s cubicle later in VFX.
Our office location ended up falling through in #vancouver so the directors decided to build another blue screen for Thomas Müller’s cubicle in a conference room we had access to.
The room was just barely big enough for my measurements to match what we previously filmed with Alex Morgan in San Francisco, but ended up working perfectly.
In our first set in San Francisco, the gaffer and I took thorough notes on exposure readings and measured the athlete’s distance from camera in the wide so that when I arrived in Vancouver, I could tell the gaffer exactly what we needed.

I couldn’t be happier with the end result.

Based on athlete availability, we had to film each athlete separately in different cities.

@hm_son7 rating reload for @easportsfc

99.9% of the time, when working with athletes who perform at the highest level (like Son Heung-min), the windows of time are very tight.
For this spot with @startingeleven.us , we had Son for 45 minutes to shoot this piece for the rating reload reveal for EA Sports FC.

I decided on an overhead soft box to set the look of the scene (double @litegear Litemat 8’s), with what initially was supposed to be hidden, subtle light hues coming from each locker.
Our large @aputure.lighting Infinibar order ended up somehow getting replaced with @asteraofficial Helios Tubes, and once we had them mounted, the Director @Casey_wertz and creative director @devinlamoreaux and I liked the vibe of the tubes so we left them.
