The first time I saw @griz was one of his sets at roo ‘23, and then last second he replaced RKS with a CTGH set which I didn’t know what the heck that meant. RKS was one of my favorite bands at the time and after that cancellation, they went on an hiatus. The CTGH set at roo that year was one of the most special and beautiful sets I’ve ever experienced. Then shortly after, Griz announced his hiatus. To be a part of a full circle moment as a vendor at the inaugural @sevenstarsfest , at a venue that I’ve done many events at over the years, that brought so much newness but also so much engrained memory, was a lot for me to process. There was worry, anxiety, frustration, tiredness, and even some pain. But looking back, it all had meaning and I was there with who I needed to be there, who I should have been there with. Shout out to everyone who was there with the @nomadcoffeecompany team, anyone who did a renegade set out front, all the shared “in the moment” experiences. One lesson I’m learning is life may never get easier but that doesn’t mean that the feeling of home must be distant - home is where you allow yourself to welcome others into your sacred (and vulnerable) spaces. The more you welcome in, the more you feel at home. “Someone I can be, somewhere I don’t know; You can bring me back again, you could take me home. With all my broken parts, scattered on their own; You can build me back again, you could take me home.”

thank you all for the bday wishes! i’ve lived out of a duffle bag most of the last year and finally got to unpack in RVA. i guess it’s pretty suiting with it being the 10th year nomad has been around. the past year has been full of stressings and blessings. im thankful for the family and friends, new and lifelong that i’ve been graced with on this journey called life. more times than not, it’s hard for me to take just a moment to sit and think about what all i‘ve been through and what has been overcome because there’s always something else to do, to catch up on, or to worry about. people have come into my life recently and have reminded me to turn off my mind every now and then and soak in the moment and enjoy the ride. life will continue to happen and change, delays, obstacles, tribulation is unavoidable, making it easy to not enjoy the present. if that’s what westernized adulthood is all about, you can have it. im promising myself to dance more, laugh more, smile more, be more of me for me. i feel like im unlocking and learning more of myself the more that i consider my inner child and releasing him from the fears, neglect, lies, and burdens that was placed on him in his innocence. so im gonna keep on dancing and playing while grinding and growing. 🌀 🙏 especially thankful for my lil cheeseburger. never would have guessed that “where did you come from?” would get us here ❤️ by @jsdavies
