I’ll never forget Moa’s first track meet. She was 4 years old and it was at Grant High School in Portland. She did the long jump and the 40 yard dash. Parents had to run with their kids because they didn’t know the way to go or where to stop running. 😂
Moa continued to run every season for the next 13 years, and this past Friday was her last high school meet. If you’re a parent with a senior kid you know how emotional this is. We’ve travelled from Spokane to Staten Island to Greensboro North Carolina and beyond for meets and made the most remarkable friendships along the way. To Moa: we are so overwhelmed by your spirit and love for track and field, for your dedication and hard work and all of the exciting opportunities we’ve had to watch you! I’ll never forget your chat with Evan Jager after hurdles at USATF regionals when you were 12 or our many accidental family meet ups we’ve had with Justin Gatlin. I think there is a marathon and some steeplechase in your future.
Also- the absolute best high school coach anyone could ever ask for: @run_dmc27 that gave us the gift of watching our girls on the same relay team, mom dream! by @jsegerholt
