Fifteen. 🤍

It’s hard to believe that the little baby girl who made me a mama, is now growing into such a beautiful young woman. She has been making every room brighter since birth.

Ava, you are a light. I’m so proud of your heart. You love Jesus and you love people well. You are a loyal friend, a wonderful big sister, and one of my very best friends.

Being your mom has been one of God’s greatest gifts to me. Life is so precious, and so are you.

Happy 15th birthday, sweet girl. I love you more than you’ll ever know. 🤍

I still cannot fathom it to be true.

John was more than my little brother. He was my friend.

We often joked that he was my fourth child because so much of our relationship seemed to revolve around how much he needed me. But as I’ve reflected over these past weeks, I’ve realized something else: I needed him too.

He was there for everything. Never missing big or small moments; births of my children, dance recitals, baseball games, birthdays, procedures, and all the family gatherings. He always answered my call. He was simply always there.

Looking back, I realize how much comfort there was in knowing that no matter what was going on, he was a constant present. I was his “Duck” as he called me since he could speak.

I think that’s one of the things I’ll miss most.

John was truly my built-in best friend.

While I cannot imagine life without him, I find peace in knowing that he is fully loved, fully known, and finally home with Jesus.

My baby brother has been gone for a month today, and my heart is aching in a way it never has before.

We don’t know what’s next, nor do we know how to walk through this season. But, I do know that God is good. He is good at being God. Over the past month, I’ve found myself thinking about all the ways God has been faithful to John throughout his life. Time and time again, He has pursued him, protected him, provided for him, and loved him.

While I do not know where John is, I know that God does. Nothing about this situation is hidden from Him. And somehow, some way, God will lead the way forward because that’s what He does.

Lord, bring peace to our anxious hearts, hope to our weary souls, and strength for whatever tomorrow holds.

Taking a few minutes to celebrate our girls and their growth at TSD this past year. We are so proud of them. Year after year, they continue to amaze us.

This year’s recital was centered around God’s creation, and I couldn’t help but be reminded that we are each created intentionally and known completely by our Heavenly Father. In a season filled with so many questions, there is comfort in knowing that God sees what we cannot, and nothing is beyond His sight or care.

Tonight was a reminder that grief and joy can coexist. Our hearts continue to ache for my brother and long for answers, but we are also grateful for moments like these that bring light in the midst of the darkness.

So proud of these girls and the hard work they put in all year. So thankful for everyone at TSD for what they pour into my girls. by @jsiem
