I advanced! I passed the preliminary(recording) round of the US Air Force Ceremonial Brass Trumpet audition. Super pleased with this great news, and now I have lots of work to do to go and win it! This is my first time passing a prelims round.

Here is part of the recording I submitted, featuring the band version of Summon The Heroes by John Williams.

Thanks to @robert.sears.music for helping me so much to get to this point, and for being here now to encourage and teach me to try and win this job! Thanks also to @masterworksfestival for guiding me so much in this area as well as helping me to connect my walk with Jesus Christ to my music.

nasty chop day today, so much tension, so little patience 🥀

Metronome practice has helped nail this excerpt down, but gotta keep pushing the tempo

More rubato and expression probably… this is by far one of the most fun parts of any solo pieces in the trumpet repertoire, really lets the trumpet show what it’s best at.

Working the Arutunian back under my fingers for an audition, always a super fun one to play, and it’s cool to see how much easier some aspects of it are after only about a year since I last played it.

Recording is humbling but very fun, I lost time when the licks got hard, plus idk what that sound was at the end lol.

This is for an audition, I’ve already got some things in mind I need to work on, but I’d love to hear some feedback on anything and everything!
