The past few years have not been kind to British nightlife. But the new club kids from Eastern Margins are looking further than Dalston, London for new sounds, scenes and fits. “There are some parties where it feels like you’re trying to be the coolest person in the room. But I’ve never felt that at Eastern Margins,” says Oscar Cheung, a Brighton-based graphic designer and DJ, and a member of the collective that’s repped East and Southeast Asian culture since 2018. Eastern Margins is part label, part ravemaker and part big happy club-kid family; it’s maybe most known for a banging annual day-and-night festival. “The best show I’ve ever done was the Margins United two years ago. That shit was lit as fuck,” says Jianbo, a rapper from south London who performed for the crowds at Earth in Dalston. Read about the collective at the link in bio and see how they get dressed for buzzy nights. 紫陽花「あじさい I made a song for the first time in my life by the sea back in Greece. Recorded vocals with my little EarPods. Used hella samples from Splice. My sister said it sounds like Apple alarm and my mom said phone ringtone (if u listen to the intro bit)… but well it was fun. Brand new experience, new media, but in a way same approach to how I make visuals I think. Very ADHD. It’s not perfect, and I like how it’s not perfect.
