Spent the past week in some watersheds of the Kitimat Range of the Coast Mountains in British Columbia. Incredible wilderness available to be explored, but it was hard not to notice that I wasn’t the only one leaving tracks behind. by @jterg

Want to visit the Kitimat-Stikine region of BC? You can take the 16-1/2hr ferry from Port Hardy (on the northern tip of Vancouver Island) to Prince Rupert on the North Coast. It travels through the inside passage, just like the typical Alaskan Cruise… but it’s not flashy… more of a working boat. by @jterg

It’s still early spring, but I already found some stranded juvenile salmon yesterday (trapped in a drying out puddle far from the river). They are large for this time of year and seem to have contained multiple species, which I think included Coho and Chinook and possibly even Steelhead. by @jterg

Hiking and overnight camping were on the menu this weekend. Our campsite at the end of an incredible hiking trail, and on a secluded beach, was a great vantage point from which to admire this part of the PNW. Nature all around, including a bee absolutely revelling in the pollen of a wild rose. by @jterg

As a May Long Weekend activity, we headed to the interior of BC (Kamloops and Vernon) to forage for morels in the burn sites from last summers forest fires. Morels are possibly the best tasting mushroom on this planet… and they’re super fun to hunt for and forage. It’s dirty business but also highly rewarding. #morelmushrooms #pnwlife #gastronomy #foraging #mushrooms #cascadia by @jterg
