Make them look like they belong together. It’s a simple statement when you’re working in beer, it’s not always an easy task.

Designs become iconic, beers do better than expected, what was a one and done becomes an iconic staple. Released at different times, different years from different artists. There’s a lot of reasons the art may vary.

A template tames the wild. Cohesive is key. It’s not always fun but it makes such a difference when you see the big picture.

I’ve been @4handsbrewingco for 2 years and the big picture is slowly becoming a little clearer.

Can’t wait for what’s to come.

Peanut Butter Monster for @4handsbrewingco Absence of Light - Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk Stout.

With this redesign we really wanted it to look like it belonged next to our Chocolate milk stout. I started with a lot of sketch’s and different monsters, from a monster taking over the CMS cow, to simplifying the OG monster.

In the end we landed on a a monster that fit in the same can template as the chocolate milk stout. I carried over the drip from CMS and we got the new look.

Updated Absence of Light, @4handsbrewingco Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk stout.

The goal with this update was to make it look like it belonged in the same family as Chocolate Milk stout. Brightened the colors, Redesigned and simplified the peanut butter monster, giving him chocolate chip horns and patterned the can out similar to CMS update - Art fitting with in the circle in the center of the can. Name above, style below. Then carried the chocolate drip pattern over swapping colors to make it look like peanut butter.

FRIDAY UPDATE 001 - Stop waiting for permission. You got to shoot your shot. It won't always work out but occasionally the stars align and you'll get that win.

Now more than ever, I'm in a season where I desire to create something, something for myself, something for you. I could wait for someone to ask me to build this, but that doesn't seem to be my style.

No tips. No tricks. This world doesn't need another graphic design influencer. This world needs more artists and I want to help them belong.

Chocolate Milk Stout design process. It’s very rarely one and done, but that’s our job. Figure out what doesn’t work while you find what does.

Sometimes you just need to see multiple options and that’s a good thing. I made it through 2 sketch’s and 3 options before we found the New Look.

Every time I get the chance to update a classic @4handsbrewingco the butterflies start. It’s iconic, it’s recognizable, it’s a favorite… now mess with it.

Chocolate Milk Stout was already a fun label giving a nod to the old 1950s milkman. I wanted to continue the tradition and took the opportunity to update the mascot. I wanted to fill the space a bit more and make the type more dynamic, shift the colors a bit closer to “chocolate milk”, finally upping the contrast of the chocolate drips that live in the background.

While updating this, I knew it was going to be side by side with Absence of Light our Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk stout, so I wanted to make sure some design elements could carry over for that update as well. But that’s a post for another day.

If you’re a designer you got a design bucket list, things you one day hope to get the opportunity to create for. I’ve had the pleasure of checking quite a few of mine off and thanks to @wisconsinvintagefest and @forwardmadisonfc I got to check ✅ another box.

Super grateful for the opportunity to design for a futbol club ⚽️ and from what I hear, the designs were a hit.
.
Option 2 was a scratch but the other 3 made it to print.
.
I can’t take all the credit for option 4 @tsantos1121 himself provided that sick WVF badge with the stars soccer ball.

There’s few things that scream St. Louis more than thin crust pizza, @schnuckmarkets and @4handsbrewingco

I was beyond excited to have this opportunity when I started at 4 Hands 2 years ago. To be able toss these three together and come out with some art that was completely fresh for this Red IPA.

It’s coming back for another year so keep your eyes out at Schnucks to pair with your next Hot Slice. Maybe you all can convince someone to print these shirts. Oh and Long Live square cut!
