Closing out Hispanic Heritage Month with a bang this Saturday in Roswell at 7PM! Lilliangina and I are Act 1, serving up some classic boleros and some power ballads we grew up hearing on our parents’ cassette tapes and vinyl. Then the second part of the show is a salsa lover’s dream with some incredible singers and more from our incredible band. Last night at the show, having these 3 in the audience, was incredibly special! During my years as Director of Education at Theatre Jacksonville, these talented friends came up through our programs. At some point I either taught, directed, coached high school/college auditions, or all of the above for Isa, Lilly, and Mia. I love them and their families! Now to see them as arts-making peers in our community is so awesome. It’s an incredible full circle feeling and a reminder of the impact of arts education. Things fu*king suck for so many people right now that it’s hard to stay upbeat. When I feel myself faltering, this guy manages to remind me that it’s ok to feel all the things and to focus on small moments of joy. I don’t know how they know when we need them most, but they do. 🎶3 minutes from Feb. 2024🎶 Club Babalú: Clásicos de Amor @aurora.theatre went super well last night and it got me feeling inspired to share a song from last year’s Club Babalú: La Historia de un Amor.
