Let’s spread the word about this record. Thank you for your support! by @juandapastor

It’s hard to put into words all the emotions I’m feeling right now. I’m tired, but I got it done!

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me through this challenge. I’ve never really liked running that much, but this was okay!

My first 26.2 miles! We’ll see if there are more.

I got to talk to my dad while running, and that was the best part of the whole experience. God gave me that incredible moment, and I’m so grateful. Thank you #teamworldvisionchicago by @juandapastor

Today I ran 20 miles. It was hard. I had to walk about 2 miles, so my time wasn’t as good as I wish it was.

When I woke up this morning, I saw that my aunt had passed away during the night. Maybe I was in shock, so I just went ahead and ran.

I missed about 4–5 weeks of training because of vacation and just not organizing myself well. I started thinking that maybe I wasn’t going to be able to do this marathon. But I’m still trying. I’m not done with this race, but after today, at least I feel a little better.

About 13 miles in, I ran into a former North Central student, somebody I worked with closely. It was really great to see him running. He had such beautiful energy, and seeing him gave me more energy to keep going.

Around mile 15, I couldn’t stop thinking about stopping. But thank you to all the people who have been encouraging me, because I could hear your voices in my head saying things like, “You got this. You can do it.” That was enough for me to continue.

As I was getting closer to the end, the thoughts of losing my aunt started taking over my mind. I started thinking about all the beautiful memories I have of spending time with her as a child. She was definitely one of my most loving aunts, and I will dearly miss her.

She was my dad’s sister, and she always told me that my dad was her favorite brother. I had a special relationship with her when I was young. She always called me “Mi Juandita.”

I’m going to miss you, Tia Betty. Thank you for giving me the strength to continue when I was getting close to not finishing.

My next long run will be the marathon. I’m not where I wanted to be, but I’m going to finish what I said I would.

Let’s go. by @juandapastor

New adventure alert 🚨

An exception to my performances - only posts.

2 years ago, I overcame a burnout from the freelance business aspect of being a performer.
Coming from a family of artists and being in theatres and festivals all my life, I couldn’t see a different lifestyle :
Serving arts and traditions (cf society) from so many cultures that I had the privilege to perform for 25 years!
I will NEVER stop playing music or singing.

Freelance life is exhausting (for the wrong reasons) and the begging business of being a soprano is absurd #iykyk .
The Opera world in particular is failing singers, while the same people wouldn’t have a job without singers…benefits out of hopes.
The art & craft is noble, and will always humble me. Surviving as an artist pulls you out of your purpose and values.
Sometimes you have to step out, to preserve the love and purpose, so you can keep serving.

I was under stimulated and needed to contribute to society in a different level.
I needed to be my whole self with everything I have to offer, not just a singer.

Randomly but naturally I came to have interest in the medical field, encouraged by my dad: a 60 years career performer, performing arts professor / phd AND a medical doctor!

In 2 years I’ve been lucky to volunteer, shadow (mostly surgery) in many hospitals and 3 different countries for over 300 hours.
As an eternal curious and enthusiastic person, I’ve loved every minute of it, discovering this whole different world.
Learning from inspiring professionals AND patients, seing things I never thought I would in my life.
Last year, I was admitted to the Pre Physician Assistant program at the School of Professional Studies at Northwestern university.
I took the year to get ready (including re doing the maths I’ve done 20 years ago), and I am now so excited to start school next week!!!

Thanks to everyone who is supporting me in this path, especially my family, husband @juanpastor and closest friends🙏🤍

Music directors: keep hiring me, I will still serve music with the same love.
Skills are like love: they don’t divide, they multiply!

Let’s go!!! 🔥 by @juandapastor

Today I finished the first week of going back to work.

While things are moving quickly and I’m getting very busy these weeks with performances and commitments, it’s important to take a second and look around. I’m very grateful for everything that I have and all my friends, my wife, Milo and I just wanted to share some of these images from today’s walk.

We are very blessed to be alive in this world, and every day is a new opportunity to evolve.

Just wanted to share that with you all. by @juandapastor

Back home in Chicago after a great vacation in Europe with my wife. Really happy to be back and looking forward to playing again.

Most of all, I’m excited for Chinchano at the Green Mill on September 4th and 5th. Put it on your calendar. Chinchano will be bringing the fire to the Green Mill.

Featuring Stu Mindeman on piano, Dustin Laurenzi on tenor saxophone, and Matt Ulery on bass.

See you there! by @juandapastor

One week in Europe already!

Here are some images from Montpellier, a town I never thought I’d get to know this well. I first came here in 2003, when I met Gabrielle. by @juandapastor
