One of my favorite people in the world. 🤎

He’s 10½ now, heading into 5th grade, and somehow he’s still little enough that I can scoop him up… even if he’s a whole lot taller and heavier these days. 💪🏽😅 This is why mama works out! Hahaha!

We had way too much fun doing this challenge together, and I know these moments won’t last forever. One day he’ll be too big to pick up, so I’ll soak up every chance I get while I still can.

I competed in the Fuji Jiu-Jitsu tournament this weekend here in North Carolina. I didn’t get a medal in Gi, but I made it to the bronze match and won a few tough rounds on the way there. I had a sprained ankle a few weeks ago from skateboarding, and hurt it again in my first match, but I kept going and didn’t give up. I’m proud of how hard I worked and thankful for my coaches at The Jiu-Jitsu Institute for helping me grow. Big mahalo to Esaki Jiu-Jitsu back home on Kaua’i for getting me started when I was a white belt. I’m a gray belt now and excited for what’s next.

Belt promotion for this guy! So proud of you, Judah. 🥋🩶🖤

Almost 5 years of jiu jitsu. From a little white belt at 5 years old ( a few weeks shy of your 6th birthday) training on Kaua’i @esakijiujitsu to earning your gray-black belt today @thejiujitsuinstitute with professor @gil_alcocer here in North Carolina.

What a journey it’s been. The ups, the downs, the challenges, the competitions, the wins, the losses, the injuries, the travel, and everything in between. So many years of driving you to practice, sitting on the sidelines, traveling for competitions, cheering you on, and watching you grow. And I wouldn’t trade a single part of it.

Jiu jitsu has brought so much fire into you, Judah. Watching you find something that helps you shine, learn to regulate yourself, build discipline and self-respect, discover your physical and mental strength, and grow more confident in who you are has been one of the greatest gifts. You’re learning to trust your body, find your own strength, and feel secure in yourself while carrying forward the teachings of an ancient art.

I’m so proud of the work you’ve put in, the resilience you’ve built, and the person you’re becoming. This journey has never just been about belts. It’s about everything you’re learning along the way, on and off the mats.

Gray-black! A huge milestone and another step in your journey. My hope is that you keep this fire alive and carry it all the way to black belt one day.

Five years in, and I’m still just as proud to be sitting on the sidelines watching you grow. So grateful I get to be your mom. Keep going, Judah. You have so much to be proud of. 🩶🖤 by @judah_furderer

Mom + son surf day at @atlanticparksurf 🌊

I got to surf first, and I think seeing Mom go for it helped Judah feel a little braver. I signed up for the intermediate and Judah was signed up for advanced barrels. There’s something so cool about showing our kids that we can face our own fears, try something new, and have fun doing it. Also, I LOVE being a big kid! 🤙🏽

We both caught some waves, Judah even got a tiny little barrel (we’re counting it 😂), and we could not stop smiling. Such an amazing experience from start to finish. The park and everyone who works there were incredible, supportive and helpful. Can’t wait to go back! 🏄🏽‍♀️🏄🏼‍♂️ taken in Atlantic Park Surf by @judah_furderer

Week 5 at Camp Woodward = BEST. WEEK. EVER. 🛹

Skating until my legs give out, learning new tricks, pushing myself every day, and having so much FUN! So stoked to be back for my second year at Woodward!

Even cooler getting to reconnect with my buddy D from Kaua’i! Stoked to skate all week with my @eastcoastrippers crew and friends from North Carolina. It’s awesome having familiar faces here in Pennsylvania!

Big thanks to my dad for coming with me, cheering me on, and getting all these videos. Couldn’t do it without you.

Feeling super thankful for this experience, all the new friends, and every chance I get to skate. Shout out to my unko Sean on Kaua’i for my epic clothes and unwavering support all my life. Best skate shop 🛹@elephit 🐘

Stoked to meet and hang with pro skaters @jamie_foy and @zionwright, skate with my @eastcoastrippers, make new friends, fish, and skate every chance I get. 🎣 Day 1 at Camp Woodward and he’s already putting in work. Between skating and fishing, he found a little time to absolutely slay the creek. Watching the confidence grow with every cast is what it’s all about. Here’s to an epic week of adventure, new friends, and making memories that last a lifetime.

10 years old and already chasing the sky’s limits. Watching @judah_furderer up there was one of those proud dad moments I won’t forget. Brave, curious, and always chasing the next adventure. You’ve already done so much in your first decade, and it’s been the honor of my life getting to be your dad and watch it all unfold.

Ten years ago, on the lush, wild island of Kaua’i, I became your mama. 🌿🌊
And today my baby is double digits.

Judah, you were born into sunshine and salt air, raised barefoot in nature, climbing, exploring, chasing waves, creatures and curiosity. Even now, after almost three years under the Carolina skies, you still carry that island spirit in you — free, adventurous, alive.

You are outgoing and funny and just the right amount of wild. You’re incredibly intelligent, confident, and brave enough to try anything — from every sport you throw yourself into, to your newest love: aviation. Watching you dream about flying planes and seeing your eyes light up when you talk about the sky is pure magic.

Eden is so lucky to have a big brother like you, you are her protector and her shield, but also her main source of laughter and companionship, partnership and love. Giving you a sibling was the greatest joy of my life.

You are so well-rounded, so active, so full of life. But more than anything, you are kind. You are thoughtful. You are empathetic and loving. You are a joy to raise. We have definitely grown, learned and healed together these past 10 years.

I pray you always stay rooted in nature, confident in who you are, unafraid to shine, and bold enough to chase every dream placed on your heart.

We are so proud of the young man you’re becoming. The joy you’ve brought into our lives for the past ten years is beyond words.

So proud of this kid ✈️💙

Today he flew again as a Young Eagle with veteran pilot and flight instructor, Ron Herrschaft from EAA #297 in “Grandma,” a Super Cub–style bush plane inspired by original WWII-era Cub designs — one of his favorite topics, which made this flight extra special for him.

This is all through a nonprofit program @eaa Young Eagles that introduces kids to aviation, learning how to become a pilot, and big dreams towards careers in aviation/engineering. If you know a child who’s curious about planes or flying, they truly welcome others. I’m so grateful we get to give him opportunities like this — watching that confidence grow is everything.
