The greatest gift to receive is one that you didn’t ask for, didn’t know you needed, and hits home deeper than you ever imagined.

Adventure, at its root, is moving toward the mystery that is coming.
So I’m sharing these places in hopes they inspire you to travel slower,
step into nature,
be present,
and be where your feet are.

As you look under the tree, remember that the present is a gift. :):)

2025 was an incredibly challenging year of transition for me and I can’t thank @clanger_mcbanger enough for creating perfectly loose itineraries for so many of us to experience the wonder and mystery of the night sky.

Jerry almost got smoked!

Part of paramotor training is 25 flights with just the wing, and being pulled up by Alex and his special winch.
Not a typo.

I was 1 for 2 on my first two landings. What a feeling!

Luckily I left a long time lapse out our first night in Iceland and got some northern lights - it was 90 percent clouds the rest of the week. So here are some creative images that are a little outside the norm!

I’m putting together an iPhone photography workshop schedule for 2027 and Iceland will be on there. I’m going to start with a waiting list to keep group size small and will post it in the near future!

1000 miles of the Iceland Ring Road in 5 days - what an amazing country!

I am planning on going back as a northern lights smartphone workshop + hot springs + stargazing… anyone interested??

The anatomy of a shoot:
1. Scout location during the day and note Milky Way position
2. Listen to a fun country music show at Ebenzer’s
3. Come back to night hike around 10pm and shoot until 1am with variations in location and lighting
4. Dump images at a coffee shop the next day with sleep deprivation and attempt to edit them but end up chatting instead
5. Wait a few days or weeks or months when you get home to make some edits with a clearer head
6. Share!

You’ll see the purple sky is my @spencerscamera astro modified sensor so that when I edit it pulls the red hydrogen alpha out of the Milky Way. It’s outside our eye’s visible spectrum but so are all the colors of the rainbow right??

This was a “comp stomp” extravaganza where we were all lined up essentially shooting the same thing with varying amounts of patience and stamina. :)

These images are all single shots - no sky blends at all.

“Be a Rubber Band Man, make the water your bones”

This @mumfordandsons song was on @mark.duea ‘s and my daily soundtrack on the 1000 mile Ring Road around Iceland a couple weeks ago.

The song speaks to flexibility which is definitely needed for the constant neuro plasticity of changing travel itineraries, navigating the roads, revising @chatgpt plans, and managing sleep deprivation.

I hope these behind the scenes videos that I make inspire you to plan a big or little trip that gives you some flexibility and much-needed perspective that we all need.

It could be just a short trek shopping or the ice cream store. Life is an adventure, so let it be just that.

Star Party under the dark skies of Bryce Canyon, Utah!

I left the camera on a ledge for six hours under the Milky Way while I attempted to sleep in my blue rental minivan. Luckily I woke up suddenly at 4am because my tracker had rotated downward and was minutes away from toppling the tripod - yikes!

Watch an ordinary man morph into a fruit roll up…

Our latest Mt Rainier adventure (WA):
- midnight snow cats at @mounthoodskipatrol
- magnificent cloud inversions
- bear cubs, newborn fawns, and baby birds
- @clanger_mcbanger turning into a human fruit roll up getting a midnight potion-fueled river snack
- @tonymaples the meat butler
- @brooke_goes_exploring the bird whisperer / marshmallow connoisseur
- @matty.bags the bee sting origin story
- @urpeanut and Chris the spotters for
- @arielle_1727 the waterfall slider
- K applying an acre size band-aid to Judd’s tiny knee injury

I’ve been sitting on an absolute pile of editing since I took a record 7000 images on this trip - including 9 timelapses. Three of the timelapses in this video were from my phone! Special thanks to Tony and Brooke for BTS contributions. More edited images are in the pipeline.

And I finally named my llama … “Dali or Dolly”. Can’t decide spelling, but I guess it only matters right now. Big hitter the llama. Mikayla you are an artist! @mymessybookshelf

I also blew a runner step getting down to the river, but the @lonepeakoverland camper was rock solid. That’s the kind of dreamy boon docking that I will always seek out in the future.
