Excited to hear that my piece has made the shortlist for the @communicationarts illustration competition 2024! I chose to share my grandmother's pot. Pots are used to mix elements together to create something new. I felt that this concept reflects my grandmother's story. She survived Auschwitz and built a new life and grew a family. It is astonishing that she had the ability to create beauty despite only having the ingredients of darkness and despair. This pot represents her life. The roots symbolize her unchangeable past, while the fruits represent what she was able to grow and accomplish. by @judkatz

Motherhood means guarding and guiding. It's about sheltering your child from harm, yet giving them wings to fly. The beauty emerges in finding that sweet spot between safeguarding and setting them free.
(not that I have found that yet but cheers to trying!). #illustration#illustrator#artdirector#conceptart by @judkatz
