What does JUF actually do? It’s a question we hear often.

Swipe through for a look at the core ways JUF serves our community every day.

From food assistance to healthcare, mental health services, refugee support and care for Holocaust survivors, JUF takes care of those who need our help.

Through camps, schools, volunteer opportunities, leadership programs, family experiences and Jewish education, JUF helps people connect, learn, serve and belong.

JUF secures 300+ Chicago-area Jewish groups so every community member can safely participate in Jewish life.

JUF is there for the people of Israel, supporting programs that promote trauma recovery, mental health resilience and economic stability.

We are together for good—here to stay and here to make an impact—with our community. by @jufchicago

Chanukah prep looks a little different this year. Yes, there are gifts — but I want my kids to remember the part where we gave, too.

@jufchicago ‘s Chanukah Coat Club is my favorite way to do that: $18 provides a local Chicago child with a new winter coat + accessories, and when you donate in your child’s honor, they receive a personalized card in the mail. A core memory and a mitzvah in one envelope.

JUF has been taking care of Chicagoans of all faiths for 126+ years — feeding people, helping with medical care, mental health support, jobs, and more. This is just one small, warm example.

Link is in my bio to donate! Give one in honor of your kid, your grandkid, or their teacher 💙

The goal is simple: help schools plan ahead so kids are less likely to have a major test, event or activity scheduled on a day when their religious or cultural observances prevent them from fully participating. #sponsored

Championed by @JUFChicago, an Illinois law passed in 2025 now requires the State Board of Education to share a statewide list of major religious and cultural observance dates with school districts each year.

As a former teacher and a Jewish mom with three kids in public school, I love this!!

This matters for Jewish students, yes, but it also matters for kids and families of ALL different faiths and backgrounds. It gives schools one clear resource to help them plan more thoughtfully and helps more kids feel considered and included.

I’m honestly surprised more parents don’t know about this because it’s pretty amazing 🙌🏼

Help me spread the word by sharing this reel with your friends and family!!

When Rabbi Moshe Spalter learned he was a kidney match for someone in need, he chose to say yes. Months later, both donor and recipient are doing well, and his children are still talking about the lesson he shared with them: if you have something that can help another person, sharing it can be one of the greatest mitzvot of all. JUF and Chicago’s Jewish community stands with the Hindu, Indian-American and South Asian communities and with Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple in Aurora. No community should face intimidation and hatred alone. We are with you—in friendship and in a commitment to building the country we want our children to inherit. This is why the Safeguard IL Community Coalition is working to fund non-profit security grants to protect houses of worship of all faiths across Illinois. by @jufchicago

This World Food Day, we’re highlighting our wonderful friends at JUF Uptown Cafe.

At the cafe, every meal is served with care, dignity, and community. We asked our volunteers one simple question: What’s one thing you want every client to leave here feeling?

Addressing food insecurity means more than providing nourishment. It’s about helping people feel welcomed, respected, and supported. Check out our link in bio to get involved today 💙
