The first fall nor’easter of 2026 is barreling toward the New York City and Tri-State area. I ain’t too intrepid to say I am a little nervous for myself and my neighbors. I don’t pray to the Most High to keep us safe, but I do pray for his Holy Spirit to give us the strength to endure the aftermath. by @juice1276

Twenty-eight years ago, on June 4, 1998, I attended my first college figure-drawing class at the School of Visual Arts. That first class was a humbling, revealing, and exciting experience. I had never drawn a nude person in my life, much less a nude man posing in front of me for more than two hours.

Being in that classroom with numerous talented individuals whose artistic abilities surpassed mine was neither intimidating nor overwhelming. However, when the instructor said, “We are going to warm up with five- and ten-second gesture drawings,” I had no idea where to begin. I literally spent the first two minutes looking around. Eventually, two students left their stations and said, “It’s obvious that this is your first time in a figure-drawing class. Don’t compare your work to anyone else’s. Follow the instructor’s directions, and don’t focus on insignificant body parts. 🤦🏾‍♂️ Focus on gesture and line during the five-second warm-up poses and on the major shapes and proportions during the 10-minute poses.”

That advice did not exactly help me during that first class because I was a novice, but it became invaluable as the course progressed.

Here are some drawings from that summer course that I recently found in storage. I will never forget how difficult those classes were. My good friend Danny “Kano,” who was already a full-time student at SVA, gave me some valuable jewels on how to approach life drawing. My boys also made some great jokes about my first attempts at drawing a naked dude: “Yo, Drew, stop looking at his bozack! Miiiiiigggghht!!” “How did you like the meat and balls? Miiiiiggghht!!”

D, I will always have fond memories of driving to 23rd Street in the Expedition and sitting in the parking lot, cracking jokes with the fellas. by @juice1276

The veil of secrecy and lies is being peeled away like a seven-day-old scab. It is going to be a painful experience and unpleasant to watch, but the truth must be disclosed for true healing to occur. Never Again‼️ by @juice1276

Unboxing a wicked pair of Air Jordan 11s that you don’t regularly see reviewed on the Gram. I’m definitely pleased with this pickup. Do you own a pair?

Back to work on my 2012 AJ 12 “Playoffs” restoration. The goal of this project is to determine which materials to use for restoring the mudguards and midsole. I’m using Angelus acrylic leather paint and synthetic acrylic paint brushes. However, next time I’m definitely airbrushing the mudguards for a cleaner finish—faint brush strokes are real. 😅

The final step is the Jumpman plate and the 23s (those sections are gonna be tedious). Finished pics and video are coming next week. ✌🏾 by @juice1276
