To leash or not to leash…. That is the question

Honestly you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t lol. I don’t always bust out the leashes but when I do it’s serious. As in like life or death or MIA serious. The leashes come out when I need an additional lawyer of security. Going to the beach alone with twins first I wouldn’t recommend, but my oldest had a surf camp, I didn’t have a sitter, and you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. I learned from my mistakes the month prior at the first surf camp…so this time I wanted to come prepared. The twins love the ocean and that was a new discovery. I ended up holding them by the back of their shirts the entire time last time. Que the leashes… PROS: extend length of exploration, 2 freed up hands for toddlers, extendeded length of grab that ass when they decide to run full speed randomly. Peace of mind for mom. Safer ocean fun# CONS: twins constantly tangle up the leashes. Chocking hazard when kids hoseline one another. Tripping hazards. Note: the leashes require more supervision than even holding a hand especially in the water. 🎙️ After a six‑month break, I returned to the mic with a two‑part series that’s raw, honest, and long overdue❤️

🎧 Part 1 – EP 149: “My Instability” unhinged and humor heavy.
For the first time… I told my whole story.
I shared my journey on The Flat Tire Andy “Ride With Me” Podcast, from childhood instability and trauma, to surviving domestic violence, constant moves, and early struggles that shaped me. This episode was about releasing shame, facing hard truths, and beginning the path to healing.

🎧 Part 2 – EP 151: “Breaking Cycles” raw, emotional, and revealing.
The conversation continues… this time about growth.
I open up about relationships, trauma bonding, recognizing unhealthy patterns, and the process of breaking cycles and choosing hope. I also reflect on the power of a few good people in your life who love you unconditionally, how their support can carry you through anything.

💛 Here’s the thing: While I’ll always advocate for healing and share my testimony, I’m ready to move forward and tell new stories, stories of hope, resilience, and life after struggle. I’m ready to celebrate how far we can come and the beauty of growth, even through challenges.

💘 Feb 14 made 6 months since I got to Florida… 🌴
And honestly… I’m realizing something.
I didn’t come here and start a life.
I came here and kept surviving.
I’ve been so focused on getting through the next day, the next bill, the next crisis, the next battle… that I haven’t even built us a community yet. I haven’t created a home feeling yet. And that’s why it still doesn’t feel like our lives are really here…
Because they’re not.
Not fully.
We’ve been fighting uphill battles in every area.
And the struggle is still real in ways I don’t even always talk about.
But something is shifting in me.
I’m tired of only living to survive.
I want to live to enjoy.
To heal.
To grow.
To break patterns.
To dream bigger than my fear.
To stop bracing for the worst like it’s guaranteed.
The battle might still be the same…
but I’m changing the player.
Learning to be proud of myself for everything I’ve overcome…
and learning how to forgive myself for what happened along the way.
And if I’m being honest… this 6-month mark has me thinking about home too.
Do people miss me?
Do they ever think of me?
Has anyone said “damn… I wish Jay was here”?
Did I leave an impact?
Is my presence missed?
Heavy heart questions… for sure.

Over time, you became one of the very few people I trust with all of me. The kind of friend who doesn’t flinch at the heavy stuff, doesn’t look away from the ugly, and never asks me to be quieter, nicer, or smaller for anyone’s comfort.
You have literally saved my life, more than once. Taught me how to give myself permission to be myself. Definitely told me about myself, lord knows I needed it. 😭🤣 You’ve shaped the person I have become in so many ways. Been there for me not only for the scariest crisis of my life, but also for some of the most rewarding, life changing, and joyous ones too. We won’t talk about the WILD ONES in public 😂.
Sarah has shaped how I understand mental health, advocacy, disability justice, and my own damn voice. She showed me that movement can heal, honesty can save lives, and that sometimes love looks like standing your ground and not apologizing for it. Ever.
