A Nostalgic British Pudding / Dessert Apple Crumble.

This and custard is a match made in heaven 😍 I love soaking mine in plenty of custard. Now that the weather is getting warmer, a scoop of vanilla ice cream would be the perfect alternative 😋

Steamed Cha Siu Buns shaped like Hot Cross Buns.

I have tried a few different recipes for steamed buns but can't seem to get the soft fluffy texture 🤔 I don't know where I am going wrong.

Some recipes recommend just cake flour, plain flour, plain flour with wheat flour, a mixture of plain and cake 🤯 most of these I have tried, and losing patience 😅

What do you recommend?

Crispy on the outside, soft and moist inside 😋 sooo yummy.

Recipe @withapron

Chocolate marble loaf cake

Realised afterwards I used the wrong size pan, hence ended up with a short loaf 🤭

First attempt in making Jau Gok Peanut Puff Dumpling, 油角 or 角仔. This sweet crunchy treat is traditionally made for the Chinese New Year festivities to munch on. Another good reason to make and serve these is that the distinctive shape of the Jau Gok is evocative of the gold ingots that the Chinese used for centuries as money. It symbolizes abundant wealth which is a good and auspicious thing to have for the celebrations.

Filling consists of shredded coconut, crushed peanuts, sesame and sugar. I changed the recipe slightly and used peanut butter to combine the filling, instead of butter or lard.

The crisp and buttery soft Chinese Almond Cookies are just the perfect little treats for the CNY. They symbolise gold coins and often enjoyed in the NY to bring good fortune.

These cookies are so fragrant with almond flavour, melts in your mouth and are sooo addictive!

To kick-start my Chinese New Year celebrations, I had to make my favourite snack - Nian Gao (rice cake 年糕 ). I like mine pan fried so it is crispy on the outside, chewy and soft inside 😋 They are soooo addictive 🥰

There's nothing quite as lovely as baking gingerbread cookies for Christmas. The smell of all the spices filling up the kitchen as it bakes is very satisfying and instantly feels Christmassy.
