Fort Connah: the last surviving fur-trading post established by the British Hudson’s Bay Company in the US.

Met the most wonderful people working hard to conserve this historical site.

The annual Rendezvous is traditionally held every year over Father’s Day weekend :) so glad we saw the sign…

This past summer they accidentally posted the wrong date for the festival, so it was a small turn out. Although, it gave me the opportunity to snap some awesome pictures of the empty property that I’ll be donating to the historical society.

Please support these wonderful folks if you happen to find yourselves up near St. Ignatius around that time of year.

It is truly feels like you’ve time traveled!! 😊

AH one of my favorite shots from Porto. One of my favorite cities. One of my favorite film stocks.

I thought about asking this couple, who were enjoying the last moments of sunset, if they’d like their photo taken, but I chickened out!!! What a beautiful little quiet moment, I didn’t want to disturb them.

My heart swoons when I get lucky enough to take a shot like this and it comes out okay. The lights, the bikes, the couple, the cityscape… 🫠 Was hoping it would come out like a frame from a romance film hehe

This photo is called, “STOP THE CAR!!!!”. Very lucky to get this shot, so grateful this mama sheep let me get so close to her baby, AND that no car hit me on this blind turn. And yes, I was standing in the street.

I had a 35mm lens on so I had to be close, they didn’t seem frightened at all. They even waited patiently while I fiddled with the manual focus 🙃

Fort Connah: Montana’s Oldest Building!
Built in 1846 by the Hudson’s Bay Company near St. Ignatius, it was their last trading post in the U.S. One original log cabin still stands today.

Every Father’s Day weekend, the free Rendezvous brings it to life with living history: tipis, black powder rifle shooting, tomahawk throwing, fur trade demos, food, music & family fun! Step back in time. It is the perfect Father’s Day activity :)

Put this on your list for your next Montana summer trip!! What an inspiring group of individuals running this organization. Can’t wait to get these film scans back.

To escape the romantic chaos of Porto, all you have to do is glance down at the Douro River from any rocky perch. Pick the prettiest boat and imagine yourself in it. I picked this one. Although I remember taking this photo amid dozens of people passing behind us, street musicians playing proudly in the distance, and people laughing over lunch while my family urged “C’mon! C’mon!”, this photo brings me a special kind of peace.
