~ Hi Barbie!Shortly after working on this cosplay, my mom got me a little plaque that says "Don't let anyone dull your sparkle". I have it hung on my wall where I can see it every day. ~ First Cosplay Competition for the books!What an experience! I'm so glad I made myself do this. Stages make me nervous, and opening yourself up to criticism is also nerve-wracking, but absolutely everyone, from judges to staff to competitors, were incredibly kind and supportive! Even with all the craziness, (over heating, my gun breaking ten minutes before going on stage, and the batteries on my wing lights dying,) I had soooo much fun and would definitely try competing again! (I wish I had talked to more of all of you in the green room, but I confess I was a bit awestruck by y'all, on top of the over heating,,, gonna try and be a bit less shy the next time around! 💜 )While I didn't win anything, I didn't actually enter for that reason, so not winning wasn't a big disappointment. I really wanted to try it for the experience, to meet other cosplayers, and to get constructive criticism on what I can do better and what skills I need to hone more, etc. I have absolutely fallen in love with making my own cosplays, and I'm very excited to keep on doing it!Huge thank you to all the staff at @colossalcon, and to the wonderful judges, for putting on the contest and for all the advice and tips on what to improve! Thank you also to @timmahaven/ @dcmcosplay for the official pic, and all the 3D printing knowledge! And of course thank you to Zach (@strippervash) and Jim for hosting, and being not only great fun, but also a great encouragement. ~ ColossalCon Day 3 & 4!I completely forgot to mention in my previous post that on Friday morning I had a lovely photoshoot with @hc_cosplay_photography ! Friday night was Autograph night, & I was able to have a lovely chat with @clkstar & get her to sign my Trigun manga! (She voiced Young Amelia in Badlands Rumble!)💜 Saturday was a whirlwind! I made it to the chaotic and super fun Trigun meetup hosted by @ivysenpai and their friend whose handle escapes me, went hall wandering, only to run into friends & yap for a LONG time about Trigun & cosplay creation & contests & real life, (Tim and Zach, you guys are awesome! ❤🤞🍩) I then rushed off to host the Trigun panel, & I WISH I had gotten a picture! To everyone who attended, you were amazing, thank you for nerding out about Trigun with me! (And HUGE thanks to @wretchedtheo for the amazing slides!) After that it was time for a late lunch, and then my first cosplay contest! I plan on making a whole post about that, but wow, it was such an incredible experience, I met so many talented & kind people, & I would definitely do it again! Congrats to all the winners!💜 Sunday was a wild day of packing the car, selling in the flea market, leaving con, & having my engine light turn on as I was leaving. I had to learn how to change a spark plug in the parking lot, & I'm very proud of the fact LOL! It was a long drive home, but I made it in the end! (One of these days, Ohio & the corn fields will swallow me, I swear- 🥴) I also had the opportunity to bring a sword for Samurai Dan to examine & IT'S NOT FAKE! I'M SO HAPPY! He was incredibly kind, cleaned it for me??? gave me some history about it, & steps in how to care for it! 🎊This con had such a crazy schedule, & I had a blast, even if I wish I had been able to spend a little more time with some of my friends. The contest definitely threw my schedule "off", but now I know what to expect and can plan accordingly! ~ColossalCon 2026 Day 0 - 2!WOW! What a con! 🎊 Some moments felt extremely leisurely, and others like I could barely draw breath before another thing was happening. This was the most change I've ever made to my usual schedule, (not doing chess on Thursday, and adding the competition on Saturday changes more than you would think,) but I learned a lot and know what to expect if I decide to compete against next year! 👀This also happened to be the year I took the least amount of photos. 🙃😭 Oops? Still got the room selfies, though! (I'll be better next year!)💜 Wednesday night was full of unpacking and catching up with friends, (and Totoro gave me acorns!)💜 Thursday I learned how to cut a wig in the morning, lost my phone in Artist's Alley (I got it back dw!), had a surprise visit from the best dog ever, (Finn! Ily! ❤) and ran the Dungeon Meshi Myths and Monsters panel with my friend, Persephone!💜 Friday was a wild ride of pre-judging for the Masquerade, the In-Character Cosplay contest, (if anyone got pictures of me and Persephone as Vash and Wolfwood PLEASE send them my way! 🤞❤) yelling my voice away at the Beyblade Beatdown, and finishing it up with the night swim!To my friends, it was lovely to see you all again! To the new friends I made, y'all are awesome! To @mack9.duracell , thanks for pulling us along to the 3rd round of In-Character, it was a BLAST! To @dr_andyoffice , thanks for all the advice, I've got IDEAS for next year! ~ LexCon 2026! (Catchup post!)What do you MEAN I haven't properly posted since MARCH?? Time sure flies... I was deep in sewing my purple Vash coat and making all the props from March through May, though, so I'm not entirely surprised. But I definitely didn't plan on dropping off the face of the earth for three months!Anyway, LexCon was a blast. It was my first time going, and I spent the whole weekend with @foreverthedeadly and @olivigarchy_, and got to see @specialbeamdesigns !! The Vash coaster is still my favorite coaster EVER, thank you so much! ❤Sadie and I also got to get a picture with @johnnyyongbosch and meet him and chat with him afterwards! He was incredibly kind, and it was so fun to chat about Vash and Trigun and Stargaze! He also said he wanted to see my purple Vash when it was finished???
