Building @focalocaofficial with my husband 🥪
Raising 2 kids while chasing a big vision
The real story behind the business ✨
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
When we started our family business, we didn’t have much —
not time, not money for marketing, not margin for mistakes.

The competition was high, and nobody knew us.

So instead of trying to be everywhere, we made one clear choice.
We chose Instagram and showed our work there, week after week.

Within our first year, that focus changed things.
People started to recognize us — including influential people from the industry.

Recognition turned into trust.
Trust led to press, premium clients,
and collaborations we didn’t chase.

I’m sharing this because when resources are limited,
focus becomes your strongest strategy.

Use what you have, show up well,
and become the version people want to work with —
or buy from — no matter the industry.

I also know how much we, as women, tend to overthink.
We wait for the perfect budget, the perfect strategy,
the perfect moment to start.

With this page, I want to show you real life.
How a business is actually built —
the mistakes, the wins, and everything in between.

Not from the finish line, but while it’s happening.

If you’re building something and feeling unsure or alone,
I want you to know it’s possible —
and you’re not the only one figuring it out as you go.

Welcome to the family ✨

A few years ago, my husband and I had a dream: to build something of our own.

Not just a restaurant. A place with atmosphere, emotion, good food and real energy behind it.

At that moment, we had zero experience in the restaurant industry.
No perfect plan.
No investors.
Just an idea we deeply believed in.

Today, we’re only at the beginning of the journey.

It’s just our second year with Foca Loca, and we’re still learning every single day. But, I’m very proud of what we’ve already managed to build with very little budget.

Because when you don’t have huge resources, growth comes from smart decisions, consistency, creativity, strategy, intuition and a lot of resilience.

Step by step, people started talking about us.
Clients came back.
Opportunities came.
The business kept growing little by little.

And we’re still building. Still improving. Still figuring things out every day.

This journey changed me too.

Because building a business is not only about money or success.

It changes the way you think.
The way you see yourself.
The risks you’re willing to take.
The life you allow yourself to dream about.

That’s why I started sharing more openly here on Instagram.

Not only the beautiful side.
But also the pressure, mistakes, doubts, growth, mindset shifts and everything that happens behind trying to build something from zero.

And if sharing this journey can help even one woman believe a little bit more in herself and her own ideas… then it’s worth it 🤍 by @julia_talpa

In your head, a dream always feels exciting. Light. Inspiring.

But the moment you start moving toward it, it stops being just an idea.

And with that comes: pressure, mistakes, uncertainty, moments where you wonder, « What if none of this works? »

In moments like these, I used to try to reconnect with the version of me who started. The one who was simply excited about the idea. The one who didn’t overthink everything yet.

But the truth is — I can’t really reconnect with her anymore. I’m not that person.

What’s actually happening in these moments is something else. I’m shaping my resilience. I’m learning to embrace the unknown.

That unknown everyone loves to talk about… but that is so f*cking hard to live through.

So in these moments, I stop trying to go back. I get out of my head. I take a deep breath. I spend time alone. I meditate. I do something — anything — that recharges me.

And I remind myself that I don’t really have a choice. Just to keep going ❤️‍🩹

People love talking about entrepreneurship when it looks aesthetic.

The beautiful branding.
The packed lunches.
The “success story.”

But nobody talks enough about:
the pressure,
the cash flow stress,
the uncomfortable conversations,
or how emotionally hard it is to build something real.

Especially when you’re building with your partner.

This carousel is about the side of business most people hide.

I think more founders need to talk about it.

A lot of women were taught that love means security.

But life is unpredictable. And having your own income changes the way you move through it. Not from fear. From self-respect.

Here I talk about money, business, and the messy parts of building independence as a woman and a mother.

Glad you’re here 🤍 by @julia_talpa

We started building Foca Loca without experience in the restaurant industry.
Without knowing exactly how everything should be done.

But we had something else: a strong desire to create a place people genuinely feel good in.

A place with atmosphere, emotion, good food, and real energy behind it.

Building a business never starts from the perfect moment.
And usually not from perfect confidence either.

It starts when you become willing to fully step into it: to solve problems, to learn quickly, to make mistakes, to adapt, to keep going even when things feel uncertain.

When you truly care about what you’re building —
you start finding solutions, people, opportunities and strength you didn’t know you had.

Sometimes that’s already enough to begin 🤍

Most women don’t actually want “just a business.”

They want freedom. Choice. Safety.
A life where they no longer have to abandon themselves to survive.

A stable job can feel safe…
until one decision that has nothing to do with you changes everything.

That’s one of the reasons I started building something of my own.

Here on @julia_talpa I share the real side of business:
money, mindset, entrepreneurship, growth, mistakes and the uncomfortable conversations nobody really talks about.

If you’re thinking about building something for yourself too —

Most women are not lacking potential.

They are stuck in preparation mode. Waiting to feel ready and right moment.

I know this because I lived there too.

Now I’m building a real business and openly sharing what entrepreneurship actually looks like: the risks, the mindset shifts, the mistakes, the growth and the reality behind it.

Maybe the biggest risk isn’t starting. Maybe it’s waiting for the version of you that feels “ready.”

Because later usually costs more.

If you’ve been thinking about your business idea for months or years… this is your sign to stop waiting for certainty and start building.

I talk about business, visibility, mindset & building something of your own — without pretending to have it all figured out.

Follow if you’re becoming the woman who finally starts. Welcome 🤍 by @julia_talpa

9. Consuming instead of doing
Watching another founder’s reel feels productive.
Saving content feels productive.
It isn’t.
At some point you have to stop studying the game and play it.

10. Not knowing your real numbers

Sales are not profit.

In physical business: packaging, suppliers, shipping, rent, ads, returns, taxes, commissions.

Small costs eat margins fast.
A business that sells a lot but keeps nothing is not a business.

It’s expensive stress.

If you recognised yourself in this list —
you’re not doing it wrong because you’re not enough.
You’re doing it without a system.
That part is fixable.

If you’re building a physical business from zero —

Most women who want to start something don’t actually have an “idea problem.”

They have a disconnection problem.

They’re so busy consuming content, comparing themselves, overthinking, trying to find the “perfect business idea” —that they stop looking at the one place where the answer usually already exists:

themselves.

Your starting point is rarely random.

It’s often hidden inside:— what people naturally ask you for— what feels easy to you but hard to others— what you constantly research or talk about— what you notice differently— what problem you’ve already solved in your own life

Sometimes your future business starts with:“Can you help me with this?”said often enough.

And no — you do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Most successful businesses did not start as fully formed brands.

They started as:one skill, one solution, one client, one product, one small step.

The mistake a lot of women make is waiting for certainty before movement.

But clarity usually comes after action — not before it.

So if you feel that quiet voice telling you:“There has to be something more for me…”

Don’t ignore it.

Maybe the next step is not outside of you.Maybe it starts by finally paying attention to what’s already there. by @julia_talpa
