A certainly successful Saturday Estate Sale Haul. 🥳
Sporting some of Opal’s new #antique gems is always a GooD DaY! Plus, shopping with good pals, and seeing their happy faces for their new treasures is just as much fun as my very own 😀😀😀. xx

Just another sunny day 🔝 overlooking the Chicago River. Nothing finer than Chicago in the fall!

19 years ago, I took a leap of faith in myself. I had no financial backers, I had no husband or family that believed in me enough to assist me in my dreams- so I did it myself. This may be relatable to some of you out there. I was “Just a Mom”, and I started small- very small. My mother was an antiques hawk- extraordinaire and she would accumulate so many things that she and her neighborhood gal-pals on the North Shore of Chicago, would clear out with a garage sale a couple of times a year. I adored going through the “leftovers”, pieces that simply needed to go to a new family or to be repurposed for a new life. That’s right, the pieces became important to me. I spent a myriad of hours with my mother as her “little helper”- think entrepreneurial sponge. She named me that but I think I was just a front for her thrifting and antiquing addiction who never squealed : )
Fast-forward to my postgraduate work in the fashion industry. Then I was lucky enough to become, for a short time, the mother of three phenomenal children and my career took a pause. It’s been a very circuitous but rewarding journey. This is the very first national publication that I was a part of 19 years ago today for one of my early personal homes- renovated with my love for maintaining history. I remember hunting down the Kenilworth postman in my neighborhood for mail about 10 days before publication. He humored me with a smile every single day. 💜
Don’t give up on your dreams and most importantly, don’t forget where you started + what you have accomplished. Perhaps it was more than you ever anticipated. Celebrate each step! I love you babe, @brianvikanderphotography as you brought me round. ❤️ @traditionalhome love ya! xxxx

The painting is progressing ever higher! The 🎨 of multiple colors and outstanding architectural elements to paint has been super time-consuming, but well worth the wait. Patience is not my best virtue. Just sayin. 👩🏼
We have a greenhouse- which we think was either a smokehouse or a pickling shed originally as it has 4’ of space dug out underneath- that sits smack dab in front of the side yard. The consensus right now is to tear down the roof and keep the floor and brick walls for some sort of water feature? Anywhos it will have to be temporarily taken apart to paint that side of the house.
My favorite part? The pink hearts on the turret! 💞
Next up- the very tippy top, the garage, the picket fence and our Coachhouse with its two apartments. xxxx

We’ve had a family day today. It’s been quiet + athletic + even read together on Opal’s porch swing. 👨🏼👩🏼🐈🐈‍⬛
Latest furniture saving hack is having a kitty cat scratching apparatus in each fabric + leather laden space. It’s been working so far! 🚫😭

A slightly scary staircase. When the ghosts skirt by, the 💀💀 make mention of it. It’s getting super busy around here. 👻👻
P.S. Homer isn’t at all a scaredy cat 🎃
