26 miles on my 26th birthday🥹This had to be one of my favorite birthday parties yet🥳 ———————————————————— This day still feels surreal. I have never experienced a whirlwind of emotions like that in such a short amount of time. From extreme nerves to excitement to PAIN to pride. It was A LOT, but I can’t wait to do it again.My first marathon on my 26th birthday (SUB FOUR HOURS) has been a dream of mine for about 7 years now. I just couldn’t be happier with how things went…well, except the last 10K. NOTHING could have prepared me for that lovely wall🥴25 was full of a whole lot of change. I retired from a career I loved, Professional NBA dancer. Then I tried to start something new that didn’t work out, which was sad, but everything happens for a reason!! I ended up excelling in my Engineering job and training hard to fulfill another dream. Don’t worry I’m still dancing!! And with that who knows what this next year has in store…💃🏼👀I have so much to say about this entire experience, from training to race day, so feel free to ask me ANYTHING. For now, all I’ll say is, if you have ever even considered running, just try it!!!! This sport is so special. It is you against you, no one else.This is also coming from a girl who grew up very overweight, with asthma, and hated any form of exercise…I LOVE RUNNING, and I really think you will too🤩I just want to give a shoutout to Jeff at @withoutlimitsrunning for giving me THE BEST training program. You’re the only reason I’m not still hobbling around and that I completed this uninjured. THANK YOU!!! Can’t wait to do it again🫡Also, to my freaking family and friends, thank you for listening to me endlessly talk about my running workouts and for repeatedly hearing, “sorry, I can’t, I have a long run in the morning”🥸 Seriously, I love you guys endlessly.If you’ve read this novel, thanks! After the passing of Brittany, I got a phone call that weekend from her husband David asking if I could get a group of her students together to perform a piece of her choreography. Specifically, the solo she choreographed for the 2024 competition season, “Every Time it Rains.”Of course I immediately said yes. When I reached out to these girls, they all said yes without hesitation. Even in the midst of the busiest time of year, they all dropped everything and made it work.We had one very late rehearsal together the night before @onebroadwaydance and no idea what the stage looked like. However, these are some smart beautiful dancers. I trusted them, the same way Brittany trusted us always. I won’t lie it felt a little chaotic, but we made it into art, just how Brittany would’ve liked it. “If you make a mistake, just keep going…improv” I kept hearing her say over and over in my head.Dancing for Brittany like this will hold a very special place in my heart. I might not always be good with my words, but at least I had a teacher who showed me how to use my body to convey my emotions💜Before we started dancing that day I had to honor of speaking about Brittany as a teacher. Probably one of the hardest moments of my life. Controlling my shakey voice, fighting back the tears, but staying present. I share this and this video because if I learned anything from Brittany it was this:-Be kind to yourself-Care and love for one another-If you make a mistake “you’ll be fine” just improv and turn it into artIf you’re still reading this, then I hope you (dancer or not) can learn something from Brittany. I hope we can all carry those lessons through their every day life. I will always feel you beside me when I dance. I love ya Britt, forever💜 by @juliagmich

How blessed am I to have known you, to have learned from you, to have laughed with you, love dance with you❤️I am still in a state of a shock writing this. I never imagined this day would come. Brittany, changed my life. She believed in me as a dancer when no one, not even myself, did. She taught me the art of dance, not just the steps and the technique. Beyond dance she showed me how to be unapologetically me. Brittany was a force of nature. Someone who moved through life with such grit and grace. She gave so many the confidence and resilience to pursue their goals, not matter what it was. I will never forget you Brittany. From every time I dance I will feel you next to me, to when I am out late half asleep I will hear you laughing at me being a grandma😂I will cherish every memory and continue to preach every lesson you taught me. Thank you Bitt for everything❤️If your dancing today, take a minute and dance for Brittany💜Britt, I miss you but I know you are now at peace able to dance again🕊️ by @juliagmich
