Toledo with Matilde!!! We went in May (sorry for the late post :)). This city was a medieval Spanish fortress and my legs definitely felt that. Imagine climbing up narrow windy streets to reach the top of the hill while wearing armor and the opposing side attacking you. Crazy. Anyways this city was super interesting, everything was super medieval times themed. We went into the torture museum and the witchcraft museum - super interesting and super creepy. Bad vibes in a good way. We cooked a super delicious pasta dinner in our hostel (I still think about that spaghetti šŸ). Then our train back to Valencia got delayed (real ones will zoom in to see how long) and we were stuck in the Cuenca train station, which has no restaurants. Our dinner was just the insides of a bocadillo (the shop ran out of bread), which was, honestly, very Spanish of us. Anyways I miss Matilde already - love you girl! by @juliamaylee

”más córdoba!

One more mini post for cordoba because we did see stuff in addition to pretty flowers on patios. One example, the mosque-cathedral that was crazy because it had the architecture of a mosque but then there’s Jesus on the walls and a pope organ in the middle of it all. taken in Córdoba, Spain by @juliamaylee

Festival de Patios in Córdoba! 1000% worth it to come to Cordoba during this festival (shout out to yi-an for knowing it’s happening, and ryan for taking her place when she couldn’t come anymore). It’s a competition in the neighborhoods to see who can deck out their patio the best with flowers. As you can see, it was beautiful (though I paid for all the pollen with my nose). It felt like geocaching because you follow a physical map to find the open patios (thanks for navigating ryan) and it’s a great way to see more of the non touristy parts of the city. For dinner on Saturday we found a plaza that had a circle of people playing guitar and singing and another group watching Eurovision on the TV while kids ran around them all. Literally so Spain, so Europe… we really could do better with the community building in our US towns. Anyways, if you ever want to go to Spain in May, couldn’t recommend these two weeks in Córdoba enough. taken in Córdoba, Spain by @juliamaylee
