When everything feels too loud: LIGHTS! SOUNDS! PURCHASES! SHINY THINGS! LOOK AT ME!!

I noticed that my big ideas never come when I'm distracted by sparkles. They come when I do as little as possible...usually after a nap.

Let's do less. On purpose.

Kyoto - what a magical trip!

1 - Kinkakuji (金閣寺, Golden Pavilion) a breathtaking Zen temple with two floors covered in gold leaf.

Shielding myself from the hot hot Kyoto September heat. 🥵

2 - Koyasu-no-to Pagoda
子安塔 - Hill view of Kyoto, her city, her pagoda, and her mountains. (Still hot in this photo too...) After being in Tokyo for a few days, Kyoto was a lovely change of pace - quiet streets, lush gardens, and slow moments.

3 - Sanjūsangen-dō temple, where 1,001 golden statues of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, line up in the 400-foot wooden hall built in 1164.

My first goshuin!! - the temple seal that a monk hand-writes with brush calligraphy and stamps in red ink into your book - making for a very special souvenir.

4 -Kyoto taught me that beauty doesn’t need to be all up in your face. One small sprig, one tiny vase, and suddenly an ordinary wall becomes a work of art. 🌿

5 - Japan, especially Kyoto, was hot in September - even for someone who's used to 90+ temps. Provisions are needed: water breaks, UV Umbrellas (ella - ellas), and convenient "Let's go look at these souvenirs in this air conditioned shop" breaks. 🌞☂

6 - The Six Senses Kyoto is THE BEST. The food, the rooms, the Lemon Shrine Amenity (each room has a shrine with a lemon, it's magic and DRAMA!), the food, the treatments - the hospitality. Cannot wait to go back!
