“RUN THEM POCKETS!,” two men repeatedly screamed as they ambushed me and my partner from behind. Bewildered, I tried making eye contact to be only served a brisk blow to my head. I tried lifting my head again. I saw the other man grabbing my partner from behind—the gun on my partner’s clavicle. My mind blanked.

On February 11, two men robbed me and my partner at gunpoint and knifepoint. My large tote bag filled with miscellaneous memorabilia was heinously hijacked. Sentimental items from best friends, like the gold necklace that @sharleendooah just got me for my birthday and the boujie water bottle that @gordenary got me before I left for Hopkins—gone.

Within minutes after informing a close friend group of the incident, Chris Lee messaged me privately asking for my Baltimore address to send me a new phone immediately. Initially, I felt bad, but Chris was adamant about protecting my welfare. My safety, as a friend, was a huge imperative for him.

Within a few days, I received a new iPhone 13, phone case, and AirPods! And though it has been a month since the traumatic incident, I am still incredulous and eternally grateful of how blessed I am to have such a Godsend in my life.
