We’ve always tried to give our kids a life full of outdoor adventure, and now that they’re 7 and 5, our summer break is starting to look a little wild. To them, though, it’s just another day outside.Having gear that can keep up with our family is essential. That’s why we love our Sun Hoodies from @blackstrap. Back at the @deervalleyresort bike park with my little guy. The views are epic and the vibes are good 🥰. We even got to say hi to the patrol dog legend, Ninja while enjoying apres-ride treats.Taking your tiny grom to the bike park? These are my secrets to success:- Bring snacks and water, a single lap will take you longer than expected.- Give lift operators a wave before rolling up to load, they will help get your small bike on the lift in the safest way.- Take breaks as needed, it’s a long descent on little legs.- Teach your little to pull all the way off the trail to let others pass— we’re still working on this one ☺️. by @julie_raisingwild

We aren’t fast. But we also don’t go very far. There was allegedly a waterfall at the end of this trail, but honestly the real attraction was a very special stick, the first flowers of spring and a really cute green caterpillar.And we somehow made it back before the hangry meltdowns kicked in, so by family hike standards, that’s an elite performance.#ad Sun hoodies keep our little explorers protected, and mom and dad survive the snack hauling, kid carrying, and emotional support duties in tops and shorts from @blackstrap. by @julie_raisingwild

My daughter wanted some alone time with mom, so we went to a trail she’s been working on for two years. And then she stepped up and rode every single feature 🥹.Mountain biking is scary, and my daughter isn’t fearless. So she really had to push herself to ride the bigger drop. She knew she had the skill but it needed more speed than she’s usually comfortable with. She stopped short a few times before going for it. And then she sent it. Afterwards I saw that special kind of proud in her eyes that comes from working on something hard until it comes together. Sharing a moment like that with my kid is really what I’m here for. Yes, it’s rad that she’s into a sport I love. But mostly I just love seeing her push beyond her comfort zone, and try things that feel hard. Even if biking doesn’t end up being a lifelong sport, I know that she’s learning a lot about herself that will carry through to all parts of life.And then we pedaled all the way home, and had some great trail chats about all the things. It was a pretty perfect mother daughter outing. by @julie_raisingwild

We had to test this one to make sure the little guy was heavy enough to teeter the totter. Then he rode it about 20 times. Riding mounting bikes with this kid is a trip, he’s a got a lot of “giver” in a little guy. We keep him fully padded for the times when things don’t go so smoothly.He’s still loving his Zulu 2 from @prevelobikes by @julie_raisingwild
