Love Your Belly is famous! 💗🎉So much heart, soul and work goes into this community non-profit event and I’m so thrilled for it to get this recognition! I’m so thankful for the BEST co-hosts ever @erinanne184 and @dr.vanessafritz whose beautiful faces are gracing these pages too! When I started my photography business 14 years ago, I never imagined I’d one day have an article published in the national magazine for Professional Photographers of America.This year has been about stepping outside my comfort zone and saying yes to opportunities that help me grow. Submitting this article for publication, teaching other photographers, and helping launch a local PPA affiliate have all stretched me in the best possible ways. Every experience has made me a stronger business owner, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned with others.Thank you to everyone who has trusted me, encouraged me, and cheered me on over the years. I always say, “happy kids always trump good light.” When you’re deciding on the time of day to have your children photographed, choose a time of day when they’re happiest regardless of the best light of the day.Mom and dad told me that this little lady is very contemplative and doesn’t smile super big most of the time. She’s busy observing and figuring things out. I was excited to see my crazy antics during their session got some good smiley results! by @juliecollinsphoto

This was THE BEST! These girls were so excited to see their portraits. What a beautiful reminder of what matters most. Seeing portraits displayed in the home is so much more than decorating a wall. When children see themselves hanging on the walls of their home, they receive the message that they belong to a family that loves them. They will grow up seeing this reminder every single day and that is why I believe photographs belong on walls, not hidden away on a phone. by @juliecollinsphoto

It’s terrible to lose a close family member at any point in your life, but it’s especially tragic when you’re still in high school. This happened to Kayla during her senior year, shortly after she booked senior pictures. We postponed her session and photographed her graduation portraits instead. During her session, a rainbow appeared, even though it wasn’t raining. I believe in signs. by @juliecollinsphoto

What oftentimes comes to mind first when deciding how to personalize senior pictures is with sports. But what if you don’t play sports? There are so many other ways to celebrate who you are and what interests you! Are you an artist? Performer? Musician? Do you collect something special? Are you known for anything in particular amongst your family and friends? Do you have a favorite flower? Do you want to incorporate your car? Are you in any clubs? Are you a bookworm? The possibilities are endless! I love meeting seniors ahead of time and asking questions to dig into who they are, what they love and using that information to make their sessions unique and personal! Love this momma so much! I met her at the gym many years ago and have gotten to know her sweet family over the years a bit too. She always has the best energy!She has never had family pictures taken and planned to come in with their two beloved dogs. Tragically one passed away before the session but he’s represented with a beautiful painting that was gifted to them. 🐾🤎 by @juliecollinsphoto
