As the first Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice in NYC history, many have asked the Mayor and me: economic justice?! What about economic development and economic growth?Such questions have just confirmed for me how long injustice has been accepted as the outcomes of economic development and growth. So let’s address the question: what does justice have to do with economic development and growth? Everything. by @juliesulabor

@nycmayor hosted a World Cup night at Gracie Mansion recognizing the workers who welcomed the world to NYC. Photo 2: Thank you to our very own city team @nycemergencymanagement who keep New Yorkers — and all who came from around the world — safe.Photo 3: @losdeliveristasunidos_ny Standing with workers who deliver for NYC — and a reminder that they also come from all over the world. Special moment with business, labor, and government leaders to break ground on the new @americanexpress global headquarters at 2 World Trade Center. Joining with businesses doubling down on NYC is always a pleasure, but there is something especially meaningful about a groundbreaking at this site. This September will be 25 years since the 9/11 attacks. “Never Forget” isn’t a slogan, it’s a promise. And this development — designed in partnership, led by a company with a 170-year history in NYC, built by union labor, and anticipated to contribute over $11 billion to our economy — is literally a city coming together to rebuild and honor those who were lost. by @juliesulabor

It should be as easy to cancel a subscription as it is to sign up for one. The advertised price should be the price you pay. New Yorkers are losing up to $162.5 million a year and countless hours of precious time at the hands of companies who count on people being too small to fight back. That stops now.By bringing people who’ve led the national fight for consumers and workers to his administration, @nycmayor Mamdani is doing things no city has done before. Always great to stand with Commissioner Levine, Senator Gonzalez @sengonzalezny who has been leading this fight in Albany, and the amazing Chair Lina Khan. by @juliesulabor

It’s hot in NYC and workers deserve to know we’ve got their backs. Bhairavi Desai has had drivers’ backs for 3 decades. Proud to be at JFK with her and to meet with many drivers, who are organizing and speaking up, to tell them now they have @nycmayor and @nyctaxi who also have their backs. by @juliesulabor

Thanks to everyone I met for sharing your stories. The pride and joy in the work you’re doing was so clear. Brooklyn Navy Yard (@bklynnavyyard) is an example of what happens when city land and capital are used to support people who have an idea get started, small businesses seeking to grow, larger businesses be part of an ecosystem of customers and collaborators, and tens of thousands of New Yorkers working in good jobs. by @juliesulabor

When it comes to childcare, expanding access and creating good jobs have to happen together. Care jobs are growing in NYC and beyond; making these good jobs where the pay and protections match the importance of the work would mean more economic security, more working people who could afford the cost of living, more consumer spending. Quality jobs are not just good for workers, they’re good for the economy. Care workers & advocates from all over the country from Washington to Illinois, New Mexico to New York City gathered at the Worker Institute at Cornell ILR. @nycmayor’s commitment to free, high-quality childcare is an opportunity to show what care can do for all, including care workers. by @juliesulabor
