Special moment with business, labor, and government leaders to break ground on the new @americanexpress global headquarters at 2 World Trade Center. Joining with businesses doubling down on NYC is always a pleasure, but there is something especially meaningful about a groundbreaking at this site. This September will be 25 years since the 9/11 attacks. “Never Forget” isn’t a slogan, it’s a promise. And this development — designed in partnership, led by a company with a 170-year history in NYC, built by union labor, and anticipated to contribute over $11 billion to our economy — is literally a city coming together to rebuild and honor those who were lost. by @juliesulabor

It should be as easy to cancel a subscription as it is to sign up for one. The advertised price should be the price you pay. New Yorkers are losing up to $162.5 million a year and countless hours of precious time at the hands of companies who count on people being too small to fight back. Brooklyn Navy Yard (@bklynnavyyard) is an example of what happens when city land and capital are used to support people who have an idea get started, small businesses seeking to grow, larger businesses be part of an ecosystem of customers and collaborators, and tens of thousands of New Yorkers working in good jobs. by @juliesulabor

When it comes to childcare, expanding access and creating good jobs have to happen together. Care jobs are growing in NYC and beyond; making these good jobs where the pay and protections match the importance of the work would mean more economic security, more working people who could afford the cost of living, more consumer spending. Quality jobs are not just good for workers, they’re good for the economy. Care workers & advocates from all over the country from Washington to Illinois, New Mexico to New York City gathered at the Worker Institute at Cornell ILR. @nycmayor’s commitment to free, high-quality childcare is an opportunity to show what care can do for all, including care workers. by @juliesulabor
