Tribeca was so special - so lucky to have gotten to celebrate @motherfutureself.film at the festival. Such a glorious feature debut from @tori_lancaster. And what a cast and crew !Had to scroll way back to 2021 when we first started shooting this film for these BTS photos. We filmed the first chunk in Maine before getting shut down by an unfortunate case of Covid. We all swam in the lake together, stayed in cabins, and canoed out into the lake to see the sunrise. Then flash forward a couple years we finished up the movie shooting in Greenpoint and Staten Island (!!!!!). Such a tender experience and I feel so lucky it’s captured on film forever.Photos 2&8 from @javi_caso (+his boom pole as the perfect prop for my arms) by @julietbrett

U.S. Narrative Competition at @tribeca !!! Holy wow!! We started shooting MOTHER FUTURE SELF in August of 2021!! Then got side tracked by cases of covid!! Then picked up again in 2023! And now we’re here! As one of 12 features in the U.S. narrative competition. Stunned!! Making art is an awe-inspiring journey! I also got to re-explore myself as a mover/dancer and workshops we got to do within filming were in themselves such imaginative/fun/expressive/explorative experiences.So grateful to @tori_lancaster writer/director extraordinaire (she also production designed AND edited, what can’t she do?) for entrusting me with playing Tara, and to @scottyander for thinking of me/casting me. And @me_betseybrown and @imanijadepowers for sharing everything we shared while filming. The Friend - out nationwide! So proud to be a small part of this movie, starring Naomi Watts, Bill Murray, a wonderful ensemble of NY actors, and most importantly BING!!!! …who even let me take a photo with him while we were filming. It’s a beautifully shot film and moving story, based on Sigrid Nunez’s book The Friend, directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel.
