I don’t think photography matters simply because it preserves a moment. I think it matters because of what happens when we really look.

Most of us have been photographed countless times in our lives and have very rarely been truly seen. There is a difference.

I’m not particularly interested in making someone “look beautiful”. I am more interested in seeing the beauty that’s already there. There are a thousand ways to arrange a body, find a flattering angle, perfect the light. I’m more interested in what happens when the performance falls away. When you stop thinking about what your face is doing. When you stop trying to make a good photograph. When you forget, even briefly, that there is a camera between us. That is usually when I begin to see you.

This is why so much of my work happens before I ever lift the camera. We drink tea. We talk. We move. We get quiet. I pay attention to how you inhabit your body, what changes when you soften, where your energy goes when you aren’t being watched. And then I photograph from there.

I don’t come into a session with a list of poses I’ve used a hundred times before. I don’t want to impose an image onto you. I want to discover the image with you.

Photography, to me, is an act of attention. And attention is one of the rarest things we can give another human being.

A photograph can say: I saw you here. I saw who you were becoming. I saw something you may not have been able to see in yourself yet.

That is why photography matters to me. Not because someday you’ll want proof that you were young or beautiful. Because sometimes an image becomes evidence of your own aliveness.

And that is the work I care about making.

I’ve opened a little more space for sessions this October + November. If you’ve been feeling the pull to be photographed, I would love to make something with you. Send me a message and I’ll share what’s available. You can also find all my offerings on my website, the link is in my bio babe.

There are so many new faces here, and I am continually evolving. Constant change feels worth honoring. Worth continuing to say yes to.

So, here I am.

I’m Juliet. I’m an artist, photographer, creative director, writer, teacher and mentor based in Ojai, California.

Photography is one of the great languages of my life, particularly film. I’m fascinated by what happens when we stop trying to take a pretty photo and instead create the conditions for something alive to reveal itself.

My work has expanded because I don’t think I was ever interested in photography alone.

I’m interested in seeing. In what becomes possible when we’re witnessed without performing. In creating spaces where women can come more deeply into relationship with themselves, one another, nature and the sacred.

That takes many forms.

I teach film photography through Body of Art. I gather with women every Sunday for Church of Magdalene. I create In Presence alongside @catiemacken, weaving together horses, tea and conversation. This November, we gather for Wild Devotion, a four-day Ojai retreat. I also work 1:1 through mentorship and Magdalene Oracle sessions.

I am a multidimensional artist and creator, and I’ve stopped believing all the pieces of me need to fit neatly into one box.

At the heart is devotion.

I am devotional to embodiment. To truth. To beauty. To love in all its expressions. To the earth. To creativity. To the mystery. To becoming more fully human.

I believe beauty matters. I believe art matters. I believe the body knows things the mind cannot explain. I believe being truly seen can change us. And I believe our lives themselves can become works of art.

I’m not particularly interested in becoming one fixed version of myself. I want to keep following what feels alive, even when it asks me to change direction, shed an old identity, or become someone I haven’t met yet.

So perhaps this is less an introduction to who I am and more an introduction to what I’m devoted to.

If you’re new here, welcome. And if you’ve been here through many iterations of me, thank you for continuing to witness the becoming.

WILD DEVOTION
November 12 - 15, 2026
Ojai, CA

Wild Devotion is more than a retreat or a vacation with friends. She is a story of remembrance.

She is the eternal becoming…a feeling, a way of being, an invitation to come home to yourself.

A woman returning to her body.
To the Earth.
To her own truth.
To the parts of herself she has forgotten, hidden, or longed to reclaim.

Wild Devotion was born at the meeting place of our gifts. Our individual medicine nourished and nurtured through our own devotional natures.

Through tea, movement, breath, horses, portraiture, ritual, nature, and sisterhood, we create the space to listen deeply and remember what truly matters.

Catie reminds us that there is wisdom in the places we have been taught to avoid.

She leads us toward the wild, the untamed, the unseen. She invites you to descend into truth, to soften your armor, and to trust the intelligence of the body and the natural world.

Juliet reminds us that awakening is not only found in healing, but in beauty.

In pleasure. In breath. In wonder. In movement. In feeling fully alive. She invites you to celebrate the sacred feminine and remember that your aliveness is a form of devotion.

Together, we are not offering darkness or light. We are offering wholeness.
Descent and return.
Depth and delight.
Mystery and joy.
Discernment and eros.
We welcome all of you. Nothing is too big, too deep or too much.

Wild Devotion is a canvas of creative potential. This retreat is an invitation to step away from the noise of everyday life and receive the medicine of presence with yourself and one another.

The most powerful insights are rarely manufactured. They arise when we pay close enough attention to witness what is already unfolding in every moment.

Throughout the weekend, we invite you to slow down and breathe deep.

Our work is not to force beauty into existence. It is to recognize it and inspire its emergence.

This experience is fed and nurtured by our sisterhood, the deep trust we have in one another and the process. You will be held, met, and expanded.

Are you ready to feel undeniably alive?

This morning the green fists of the peonies are getting ready
to break my heart
as the sun rises,
as the sun strokes them with his old, buttery fingers

and they open —
pools of lace,
white and pink —
and all day the black ants climb over them,

boring their deep and mysterious holes
into the curls,
craving the sweet sap,
taking it away

to their dark, underground cities —
and all day
under the shifty wind,
as in a dance to the great wedding,

the flowers bend their bright bodies,
and tip their fragrance to the air,
and rise,
their red stems holding

all that dampness and recklessness
gladly and lightly,
and there it is again —
beauty the brave, the exemplary,

blazing open.
Do you love this world?
Do you cherish your humble and silky life?
Do you adore the green grass, with its terror beneath?

Do you also hurry, half-dressed and barefoot, into the garden,
and softly,
and exclaiming of their dearness,
fill your arms with the white and pink flowers,

with their honeyed heaviness, their lush trembling,
their eagerness
to be wild and perfect for a moment, before they are
nothing, forever?

WILD DEVOTION RETREAT
November 12–15, 2026 | Ojai, California

What if you gave yourself four days to remember what it feels like to be fully, undeniably alive?

Not who you have learned to be.
Not who the world has asked you to become.
But the woman beneath it all.

The wild one. The tender one. The sensual one. The woman who knows, deep in her bones, that she belongs to herself.

Wild Devotion is more than a retreat. She is a story of remembrance.

A return to your body.
To the Earth.
To your own truth.
To the parts of yourself you have forgotten, hidden, or longed to reclaim.

Through tea ceremony, movement, breathwork, horses, portraiture, ritual, nature, and sisterhood, we invite you into four days of presence, beauty, and becoming.

Born at the meeting place of our gifts, Wild Devotion holds both descent and celebration.

Catie reminds us there is wisdom in the places we have been taught to avoid. She leads us toward the wild, the untamed, the unseen. Inviting you to soften your armor, descend into truth, and meet the parts of yourself longing to be witnessed.

Juliet reminds us that awakening is not only found in healing, but in beauty. In pleasure. In wonder. In movement. In feeling fully alive. Inviting you home to the wisdom of your body, to trust what you know, and remember that your aliveness is a form of devotion.

Together, we are not offering darkness or light. We are offering wholeness.

Depth and delight.
Mystery and joy.
Discernment and eros.

A space where nothing about you is too big, too deep, or too much. Where you do not have to perform or become anyone else.

Four days to step away from the noise.
To listen deeply.
To be witnessed.
To receive.
To remember what truly matters.

And perhaps to discover that the woman you have been longing to become has been within you all along.

Are you ready to feel undeniably alive?

Join us November 12–15 in Ojai, California.

❤️‍🔥 Spaces are limited. And there’s only one month left to sign up. Explore the retreat through the link in bio.

The gift of stillness is that eventually, you begin to hear what all the noise has been covering.

There is so much asking for our attention. So much urgency. So much pressure to move, respond, produce, decide.

And yet some of the most important things cannot be rushed.

Tea has taught me this again and again. To sit. To listen. To let the moment be enough without needing to turn it into anything else.

Stillness is the home we can always return to.

I think we are starving for contact with the living world.

Not another piece of information. Not another idea to consume. Not more of the endless noise of online spaces like this one.

But earth beneath our feet. Water on our skin. Tea in our hands. Horses breathing beside us. Our bodies moving. Other women sitting across from us. Silence long enough to actually hear ourselves again.

So much of what I create is really about this.

My photography sessions are an invitation out of performance and back into presence. Into your body. Into the natural world. Into being witnessed as you truly are.

And this same thread runs through everything I create: my Body of Art photography workshops, Church of Magdalene, In Presence with the horses, and the Wild Devotion Retreat.

Different spaces. Different practices. The same remembering underneath all of them.

Maybe we don’t need more noise.

Maybe we need to put our bodies back on the earth long enough to remember why we came here. taken in Ojai, California by @julietgrace

What are you wildly devoted to?

When Catie and I began dreaming our Wild Devotion Retreat into being, this question felt like the pulse underneath it all.

Catie is one of those women whose presence carries its own kind of medicine. She brings such deep magic to this retreat, but also something I value just as much: INTEGRITY. Wisdom. Devotion to her own path. A willingness to go deep, to tell the truth, to listen to the body, and to live what she teaches.

There is a wildness in her, but it isn’t performative. It’s rooted. Earned. Embodied.

Getting to photograph her on film recently felt like witnessing that power through my camera. There were moments when I almost forgot I was taking photographs at all. I was simply watching a woman inhabit herself.

And holy shit, is she beautiful.

This is some of the energy she is bringing into Wild Devotion this November.

Catie and I will be weaving together four days of tea ceremony, breath, horses, embodied movement, portraiture, ritual, sisterhood, and the kind of space that invites you back into deeper relationship with your own body, your own knowing, your own wild nature.

Even as I write these words, I can feel my breath getting quicker and the energy rising in my body just thinking about what we are creating together. It’s almost inexplicable. I can feel this retreat before it has even happened. Like it already has a pulse of its own.

There are still spaces left.

So, lovingly…

what the fuckkkkk are you waiting for?

This autumn has been a seismic shift. Have you felt it? Not only has the season changed, but there is so much that is changing that feels both universal and wildly personal.

For me, the end of summer came as I returned home from traveling abroad and some very wild adventures. I returned with brutal jet lag and a heart full of grief that summer was indeed coming to a close. Then, it seemed as soon as I started to get a foothold on my life again, my dog Roger became sick. We’ve been through a week of so much with him.

All to say, September closed one season and opened another, and in that shift, a lot has changed.

This feels resonant with the season, though. It’s not a small thing to leave the blooming fertility of summer behind. It’s natural to grieve what is ending. But there is also so much to harvest, so much to nourish ourselves with, even as grief weaves itself into our lives.

This season of harvest is inspiring me to open up a couple more spaces for autumn photo sessions.

If you’ve been wanting to shoot with me, whether to celebrate your life with a personal shoot or to level up the visual world where your offerings live with a branding shoot, I would love to create with you.

You have only to ask, and we can make some magic.

DM me or reach out through my website (link in bio). 🍂

Autumn books are open 🍂

There is something about photographing this time of year that I return to again and again. The changing light, the earth getting quieter, the feeling of transition and becoming.

This season, I’m opening a limited number of spaces for:

☼ Personal portrait sessions on film
☼ Branding + visual storytelling sessions
☼ Coming of Age sessions, my newest offering for young people at the threshold of who they’re becoming
☼ Brand retainers for ongoing storytelling throughout the year
☼ 1:1 creative direction + mentorship

For the woman ready to be witnessed as art.

For the founder whose business has evolved beyond the imagery representing it.

For the young person becoming more and more themselves.

For the artist or creative standing at the edge of something new.

I want to create photographs that feel like you. Not posed into someone else’s idea of beauty or branding, but alive, honest, intimate, and unmistakably yours.

Currently booking autumn in Ojai + Los Angeles, with limited availability for travel. Please note that September is almost full!

If you’ve been feeling the pull to create together, send me a DM or inquire through the link in my bio.

I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up. ☼

There is usually one shot that stands out for me from every session. It tells a full story. Reveals something essential. And this first slide is THE shot.

Sometimes you just have to play favorites 💫
