What if the unknown holds more possibility than we realize?
October‘s message explores how easily we can get swept up in overwhelm and reminds us that we have a choice in where we place our attention. This quote is just a glimpse. You can read the full message on the free messages page on my website. taken in San Diego, California by @juliewainer

I love fresh flowers. In my “heaven on Earth” I have them in my house at all times.
As a little girl, I thought having fresh flowers in the house was the fanciest thing - and I’ve always wanted that for myself.
So I made a commitment: fresh flowers in my home every single day for a full year. I haven’t missed a day so far.
These fragrant beauties are my piece of heaven today. by @juliewainer

Six months.
Today marks six months since my dad died, and somehow that feels both impossible and like a lifetime ago.
So much has happened. Decisions have been made, mountains have been moved, a home filled with decades of memories has been emptied and sold, and a lifetime of belongings sorted through.
Well, almost.
There are still boxes that came home with me, sitting in a room in my house, waiting for me to go through them. Another task still to be done.
It all happened very quickly, more quickly than I would have chosen. I was encouraged more than once to slow things down and give myself more time before making decisions. I wanted
that time, too. But the pace wasn't always mine to choose, so I did my best to move through it with grace and find peace along the way.
On our last day at the house, we did something that felt familiar.
We spent the day by the pool - Bill, Taylor, Landon, Arlo and me - swimming on a summer Sunday, just as our family had done so many times before.
By then, almost everything inside the house was gone.
Except this chair.
My dad's chair.
Somehow, with everything that had been moved, packed and cleared away, his chair was still sitting in exactly the same place it had been for years.
His spot.
And, ultimately, the exact spot where he took his last breath.
No one planned for the chair to still be there. No one intentionally left it behind. It just was.
Before we left, we stood around it for one last picture, almost as though Dad were still sitting there with us.
And then, as I was walking out the door for the last time, I stopped and took this
photo.
An empty house. An empty chair.
I locked the door and walked away for the last time.
Six months later, I'm okay. I'm peaceful. Life is moving forward. I'm building and creating, exploring new opportunities, and figuring out what I want this next chapter to look like.
And through all of it, I think about him and miss him every day.
Grief hasn't stopped life from moving forward, and moving forward hasn't meant leaving him behind.
Maybe that's what I've learned most in these six months.
We don't have to choose between missing someone and living fully.
We carry them with us as we do both. by @juliewainer

The "Coming Soon" sign went up today.
I never imagined two simple words could carry the weight of fifty years.
After 50 years, my childhood home is about to belong to someone else.
I moved into this house when I was five years old. It's where I grew up, where my parents built our family, and where so many of life's biggest moments unfolded.
It witnessed scraped knees and slumber parties, Christmas mornings and Sunday dinners, first kisses and first cars, celebrations and heartbreaks. It held laughter, tears, music, family, friends, and more memories than I could ever count.
Over the past few months, I've walked through every room, opened every drawer, sorted generations of photographs, and said countless quiet goodbyes. In doing so, I realized something...
A house quietly witnesses a life.
One of my favorite places is a simple doorway where my parents marked my height as I grew. Years later, they added my daughter's marks too. In those simple pencil lines lives the story of our family across generations.
As I've prepared to let this home go, I've realized it isn't just a house I'm saying goodbye to. It feels like I'm saying goodbye to my mom, my dad, and my safe space that held our family's story for half a century.
For fifty years, these walls gave us a place to gather, celebrate, grow, laugh, cry, love, and belong.
For me it was never just a house - it was home. by @juliewainer
