Father’s Day has been tough for me since losing my dad 14 years ago. You would think it would get easier with time, but in many ways it has gotten harder, especially now that DJ is old enough to understand the grandparent relationship (he has lots of questions these days!) The other day he said, “I wish I could meet Papa Joe, and I wish he could come to my house.” That absolutely broke my heart.But while Father’s Day always carries a little sadness for me, celebrating @kevinmohler_ as our rock and DJ’s daddy is the easy part.Thank you for being the strong spiritual leader of our family. Watching you be a father to DJ is one of the greatest gifts, and it only gets sweeter as he grows older. The prayers, love, guidance, and patience you pour into our little dude does not go unnoticed.Happy Father’s Day! Thank you for being our #1 guy. We love you big! ❤️😘 by @julsmoe

Farm life can be so exciting and beautiful, but also incredibly heartbreaking 💔 at times. In the last month, we’ve lost a baby chick, a chicken, and Tuesday one of our new baby goats did not make it 24 hours after birth 😥. I have been feeling so sad and stressed about our other baby goat eating 🍼. We had to cancel plans to get her the care she needs and I could only get her to take a few syringes of colostrum replacement before she finally took a bottle later that afternoon. While I was upset, DJ looked at me and said, “It’s okay to be sad, but all animals eventually die”. We always tell him that & it’s our job to do our best to steward and care for them, that’s all we can do.Hearing him repeat back the very words I’ve always told him during our farm losses stopped me in my tracks (kids are always listening). 🥹 He has matured beyond his little years with life lessons and farm chores. Even in the sadness, there is still beauty to be found. We’re so thankful our farm cat, Cece, decided to bring us her kittens so we can help care for them too.Even with the recent loss I’m still glad we’ve chosen this life full of joy, lessons, hard moments, and beautiful ones all intertwined. Please say a prayer 🙏🏽 for our little baby goat. We’ll keep trying to bottle feed her and praying she pulls through we currently have a “porch goat” as she refuses to stay out in the pasture with the sheep and goats since her mom has rejected her. She follows us to the house and would really like to be a house goat. 😂#farmlife by @julsmoe

A slow day at home because I’m in a flare and truly not feeling well, but my heart is overflowing with gratitude for every moment I get with this sweet boy who is growing up so fast. Being his mom is truly the sweetest gift (thank you Lord). I want to treasure these little moments forever because I know they are the ones that matter most. And yes, these were all captured today between 9-2, 3 outfit changes because it was too hot to stay in his Batman costume & pajamas 😂😂 by @julsmoe

Somehow we blinked and DJ’s K3 year is already over. 🥹💙From first day to last day, this little guy learned so much, grew a few inches, made sweet friends, and definitely built up that immune system 🥴😂So thankful for the memories, the growth, and all the teachers who loved on him this year. Tried to squeeze 200+ photos and video clips into one reel under 5 minutes… and still couldn’t capture how special this week was 🫶🏽The absolute best time with my boys: beach days, sandy toes, swimming nonstop, ice cream/ sugar overload, DJ’s sweet dance moves, coconut hunting, animal encounters… and yes, that really is a monkey hanging from Kevin’s arm 😂🐒 (min. 2:40) Soaked up every single minute with my home crew and wishing we could hit replay already 💗🇲🇽🌮 #withthem #collectmomentsnotthings #thefivesbeach #epictravlers by @julsmoe

Opening day for DJ’s spring t-ball season! ⚾️It may have been a chilly one 🥶, but that didn’t stop these kids from having a great first game. There’s nothing better than watching them run the bases, cheer for their teammates, and simply love being out there.So proud of DJ and his team. Some days are too sweet not to remember. 🌞This weekend was full of the little things I never want to take for granted: wandering the yard for wildflowers, gathering and counting eggs, and catching a tiny tree frog (noticing just how long and beautiful DJ’s eyelashes are in the picture of him holding it). 🐸Bare feet in the grass, chickens and goats nearby, sunshine on our faces, and a little bird watching. We even got the brooder ready for baby chicks and made our Tractor Supply run for our “Chick Day.” 🐣Nothing fancy. Just slow moments around our little farm that I want to hold onto. A day late — but we’ve been busy celebrating and party planning! 🎉✨Happy 4th Birthday to our miracle boy, DJ! 💙 I will never stop thanking the Lord for the gift of you. Being your mama is the sweetest blessing and a beautiful answer to prayer. ✨Three has been a big year — tough at times, but oh so beautiful. Watching you grow, learn, and explore the world has been the greatest joy. 💙Some things I always want to remember from this year:🚽 Saying goodbye to diapers (hallelujah — potty training complete!)🐢 Starting “school” in K3⚾️ Playing your very first season of T-ball🐞 Discovering a passion for bug hunting and reptiles — especially spiders, snakes, lizards, turtles, and your true love… iguanas 🦎🎬 Falling in love with the Bee Movie, Sing & Sing 2 (Johnny the singing gorilla is your favorite!), and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 — a.k.a. “the strawberry movie” 🍓😂💦 Becoming an incredible little swimmer — diving down, swimming underwater, and even braving the slides all on your own!🧗‍♂️ Gaining so much confidence and adventure when climbing and trying new things at the park🛻 Entering your monster truck/Jam eraYour favorite things still include the beach and sand, collecting shells, rocks, sticks, and acorns, park days, time outside on the farm (you love the chickens 🐓 and cat Cece), and trips to Press & Co. for smoothies and “healthy cookies.” You also love the library, pet store, and zoo — anywhere there’s something to explore.You are smart, brave, funny, kind, and so full of life — we never know what’s going to come out of your mouth next, but it always keeps us laughing. 💚We love you more than words, our big FOUR-year-old! 🥰💙🎥 Pull out some popcorn 🍿 and enjoy some of my favorite moments from the past year! 🫶🏽 #collectmomentsnotthings #year3 by @julsmoe
