The @rgdcanada DesignThinkers is starting tomorrow! And I’ll be leading a roundtable on one of my favourite topics, biscriptual design.

We’ll cover challenges, tips, resources, considerations, and inspiration when working on multiscriptual projects.

Hope to see you there!

Ashwa (عشوة) is a conceptual late-night delivery service that’s both fun and casual. The brief was to create a biscriptual food delivery brand targeting young adults—one that feels playful, energetic, and relatable.

The name is arguably one of my favourite things about the brand. It’s a colloquial way of saying dinner, but it also has this connotation of a casual meal with the perfect balance for something simple/playful but also fulfilling. Right on brand!

The whole process, from ideation to design, has been so enjoyable. And, of course, the Arabic typography in particular has been a treat to explore.

There’s honestly still more I’d love to refine and play with (like more on-brand bilingual copy or maybe even fun merch). So think of this as a little teaser for now.

A huge thank you to @sarahkhshebl for the fun brief and feedback! ✨

Feeding the soul and mind is so necessary for work (and life, tbh). Going to @offf.montreal and @forum_mtl gave me the creative reset I really needed, serving up a full buffet of food for thought over the course of three jam-packed days.

Chaos is Forum’s theme this year, and that’s kinda how the past few months have felt.

My notes were a mess of so many quotes, thoughts, project ideas, and inspiration. So scroll through to see a bit of what stuck!

I’ve been working on some exciting things behind the scenes, and this made me realize it's always been chaos that kept the momentum going.

Thank you to OFFFMontreal and Forum for the great lineup, the amazing vibes, and the constant inspiration!

So happy to have presented at Minds of Design! Thank you @rgdcanada and @baobrampton for having me! And thank you to everyone who came out and made it a sold-out event. The engagement and the good vibes were unparalleled!

It was a real career highlight to share my work with the @downtownbrampton and chat about community, design, and culture—and how deeply interconnected these things are.

Culture informs design and impacts community, but good design also involves the community and shapes culture. It’s a cycle. And as creatives, it’s a privilege to work in that space. To have conversations around how we want our cities to look, to feel, and to sound.

It was also beyond an honour sharing the stage with Kammy Ahuja, @kammyillustration, and Vanessa Eckstein, @blokdesign & @rhythmdialogues, both incredible figures in the industry and with ties to Brampton to boot. Thank you both for incredible conversations and oh so valuable insights.

What a way to reignite the passion for storytelling and design. Here’s to exploring the edges and embracing what comes next ✨

So thrilled to be a judge for this year’s @rgdcanada Student Awards, which recognizes standout work across Canada in all areas of communication design. I’ll be judging the Storytelling Design category, which is especially dear to my heart.

Storytelling was my entry point into the creative field, so getting to see what young creatives have in store is particularly exciting!

I'm looking forward to it!

Around a year ago, I worked with the Office of Suspension and Debarment at the World Bank Group on their Knowledge Report for the 2nd Symposium on Supranational Responses to Corruption: Integrity in Climate Finance & Action.

A bit of a mouthful, but a very meaningful project. I got to push myself and translate complex content into a clear, accessible publication for both digital and print. This project was about enhancing the accessibility and impact of the symposium’s insights, supporting knowledge sharing and advancing global dialogue at the intersection of climate action and anti-corruption.

I was dealing with lots of footnotes, callouts, tables, and charts—not to mention creating a tricky set of icons to represent complex subjects. Everything came together through a cohesive colour palette and a structured layout, with type hierarchy as well as accessible PDF features.

Genuinely had so much fun making this Arabic lettering piece with @samarzur's guidance!

The workshop was centred on the word "خزعبلات" (khozabalat), meaning nonsense or something made up. I guess it can refer to a story/tale, too. It also has a funky sound to it that made me want to not take it too seriously. With that in mind, I wanted to make something a bit more playful and unexpected.

I was really drawn to the elegance of the Diwani script (swipe to the end for references) but wanted to add a certain flair. With Samar's help, I worked on refining the letterforms, the contrast, and the liquifying dripping effect. It's now one of my favourite Arabic lettering pieces—thank you, Samar! 💜

Arabic typography has been a rabbit hole I recently fell into and, honestly, never want to get out of. It’s been so rewarding to explore, learn, try and fail, and learn again. I think of it as a passion project, and it’s one that made me fall more in love with design and feel even more connected with my own roots.

Here’s to spotlighting my last passion experiment (which, amazingly, was featured @torontodesigndirectory’s Swash and Serif last year in great company!).

This one is a two-part biscriptual poster series that is purposefully designed with different type treatments and illustration styles. Inspired by old sayings with obscure origins, I wanted to use type and illustration to convey meaning and create a different mood around each phrase/proverb. I loved playing with the repetition of words and the relation they share with their translation via letterforms, placement, and diacritics.

Mentorship has a special place in my heart, having learned so much from amazing mentors myself. And now, in a heartwarming full-circle moment, I’m able to give back and pay it forward.

So happy to be a mentor for the @rgdcanada mentorship program, which offers RGD members the opportunity to work one-on-one and gain career guidance, support, and encouragement. The program is officially underway, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes out of the sessions with my mentee.

Working on multi-scriptural design projects can be challenging, especially if it’s new to you. Designers @jumanah.design Associate RGD and @young_am_i RGD compiled a detailed list of resources, including these books, to get you started. Whether you have a project in mind or simply want to broaden your typographical horizons, this list is for you. Comment “list” and we’ll send it your way. by @jumanah.design

So happy to end 2025 on this highlight: receiving a trophy for this year’s @dna_paris award in graphic design, specifically for packaging.

It still feels a bit surreal to have won this for a last-minute passion project (really more of a personal challenge). It was a great way for me to experiment and refresh, kickstarting my creativity with what ended up being one of my most favourite projects this year.

And it definitely makes me want to do more of these passion projects in 2026—a mix of packaging, editorial, and branding.

So here’s to an even more exciting and fulfilling year ahead for us all!
