I’ve been seeing these, so I thought I’d try. It was hard to narrow it down! This is the media that’s shaped me thus far, and I’d love to yap about it. ✨

Whats on their bookshelf? (Gilmore Girls edition ☕️)

🍂It’s September, which means it’s Autumn! (Well, basically.)
For me, that means that leaves are falling from the trees, pumpkin scented candles are warming my home, and the Gilmore Girls theme song is playing in the background of all of my evenings.
I feel like these characters are my friends or family somehow, so I’d like to think these book picks are inarguably accurate. Argue with me, I dare you! Perhaps recommend others if you have them, even.
I should have done Kirk though, now that I’m writing this. He probably reads encyclopedias or corporate handbooks for fun, I’d guess.

Hollywood Ending, John Green 🎥

Well, I guess it just depends on what you want from your love stories or stories in general.
I adored these characters. I felt so deeply for them. I cried for them, laughed for them, and it was an honor and a pleasure to be in their minds for a few hours.
But also, not much happened. It’s an emotionally driven plot, with very little drama.
Maybe you like that! I did, personally, because I’m interested in the behind the scenes aspect of the entertainment industry. If you aren’t, it’s possible your interest may wane.
And listen, John Green. Love ya dearly, but give up the Indianapolis propaganda. Nobody wants to move there, John.

Off the Reservation, Stephen Graham Jones 🚐

Thank you to Saga Press for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was the world’s most memorable road trip, that’s for sure.
I love the imagination that Stephen Graham Jones has. Nobody else can make me stare at a series of words with such incredulous fascination. Who else could or would write a possession story like this?
I went from understanding to confusion and back again over and over, all while blood and guts were being splattered over each page. Though occasionally lost in the many perspectives the story was told through, I was always rapt.
Loaded with powerful metaphor, filled with constant adrenaline, a story that is somehow mournful and triumphant at the same time. That’s how I would describe this if I were to. Which I am.

Book club was full, so we made our own! Captured on my middle school digital camera, which I’ve been loving recently.
I hope to have many more nights of eating desserts and hanging with gorgeous, well read women. Life is worth living!
(I can’t lie, that’s still my favorite bookmark. He’s so leggy.)

September 2026 reading recap, featuring some stickers from my month.

Only a few books this month, which is a blessing really. Now I have renewed motivation for my favorite month of the year, October.
Kindly recommend some of your favorite horror books, please and thank you!
My favorite read of this month was Shady Hollow. Between that and my Gilmore Girls rewatch, I’ve spent weeks in cozy, fictional towns. And now that it’s spooky month, I can start Over the Garden Wall season?
  God, I love autumn.

Shady Hollow, Juneau Black 🦊

This was everything I could ask for from a cozy murder mystery in which all of the characters are woodland creatures, a specific niche that has been sorely missing from my life.
This is unfortunate, as I now need every single installment on my shelf. Where will I find the room?

There is no review. It’s just tragic how much hope she had for the future…

🕯️✨The Mabon equinox is soon upon us, my fellow disciples of Autumn. This season always feels a little more magical for me, with reminders of death and rebirth abundant.
The veil is thin, the gravestones are mossy, and the breeze that blows the fallen leaves seems to carry whispers from the past.
Lest I continue to wax poetic (get it, like the moon?), here are some witchy books I’ve enjoyed that feel fitting for this occasion.

Trad Wife, Sarah Langan 🥧

Thank you to Atria Books for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I took days to mull over my thoughts about this story, and I still don’t have the words.
It cannot be understated how much I did not anticipate where this plot was headed.
I felt thoroughly freaked out, dubious, perplexed, aghast, frustrated, and was left with a pervasive, lingering sense of unease. All in that order.
Those are the words I do have.

Cannibalism, Bill Schutt 🐸

Fascinating and fun. I had a great time reading this book and I learned a lot.
I appreciate the exclusion of cannibal serial killers and the refusal to speak on more sensational true crime stories of cannibalism out of respect for the, often still living, loved ones of the victims.
