Former House of Representatives member and former Federal Commissioner of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to reopen an old financial investigation involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking on TVC News' Politics Tonight on Friday, Agbonayinma alleged that the United States government had previously written to former President Olusegun Obasanjo concerning the matter, prompting Obasanjo to authorise the then EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, to investigate.

He said his call for a fresh investigation is based on documents he claims to have obtained, including certified copies of an investigation report by the United States Senate and an EFCC report.

Agbonayinma has given the anti-graft agency a 14-day ultimatum to reopen the case, insisting that his claims are supported by documentary evidence rather than hearsay.

Politics Tonight| Deputy Speaker House Of Reps Benjamin Kalu Was On Politics Tonight Addressing The Concerns Of Nigerians Regarding The Creation Of State Police

Under this framework, federal authorities may need a governor’s request before intervening. Isn’t that potentially dangerous in a fast-moving security crisis? What happens if a governor refuses to ask for help out of political pride? Should lives depend on whether a governor is willing to admit failure?

Welcome to June, the halfway mark of the year.

Sixth month here, six months ahead. A moment to reflect on how far you’ve come, reassess your goals, and refocus on what truly matters.

If the first quarter didn’t go as planned, June offers a fresh opportunity to reset and move forward with renewed determination.

May this new month bring clarity, progress, favor, good health, and new opportunities. Here’s to making the second half of 2026 even better than the first.

Happy New Month Everyone
