SLOWLY, SLOWLY In Mangawhai, WOLF Studios is taking a considered approach to movement and wellbeing — proving that slowing down can be its own kind of strength. Founded by Kayla Kitson, the boutique wellness studio brings together Reformer Pilates, heated Mat Pilates, heated yoga and a private infrared sauna suite, all designed to create space to breathe, move and feel nourished. The name says it all: WOLF is FLOW backwards, reflecting the balance at the heart of the studio — strength and softness, effort and ease, movement and stillness. Inspired by the Balinese philosophy of pelan pelan, meaning “slowly, slowly”, WOLF invites you to move with intention and find your own rhythm. ROOM TO GROW For Laura Currie, becoming an artist hasn’t felt like a change of direction so much as a long-overdue admission. After working as a lawyer and digital designer, painting remained a constant thread. Now, under the studio name Loveday Barnes, Laura’s intuitive work explores botanical forms, memory, growth and decay, moving between the recognisable and abstract. Her latest series, Groundwork, considers cycles of emergence, transformation and return, drawing inspiration from our connection to the earth. Working from Blackshed Art Space in Waipu, Laura’s Groundwork exhibition is coming later this year. Follow @lovedaybarnes for updates. by @junction_mag
20 YEARS OF STYLE, COMFORT & WAGGING TAILS There’s a lot to celebrate when you’ve spent 20 years keeping New Zealand’s pups warm, comfortable and looking very good. September marked a special milestone for Mr Soft Top, which began back in 2006 with custom hand-knitted dog sweaters and has grown into a much-loved New Zealand brand, with customers from Iceland to Invercargill and everywhere in between. Today, the range includes merino sweaters, wool coats, collars, leads, bedding, bowls and plenty more — all proudly made in New Zealand with the same focus on quality, comfort and good design. From those first hand-knitted sweaters to two decades of very stylish dogs, it’s been quite a journey. Happy 20th, Mr Soft Top. Here’s to the next 20. @mrsofttop www.mrsofttop.com by @junction_mag

A brush with greatness Sir Sam Neill was a true Kiwi icon, woven deep into the fabric of who we are as New Zealanders. Following his recent passing, one local story feels especially poignant: a portrait painted by ex-Warkworth artist Julian Ford, chosen and bought by Sam himself after it caught his eye online — a rare and quietly extraordinary honour for any artist. From spanners to paintbrushes, Julian's journey took him from Algies Bay to Queenstown to Dunedin, painting everything from the real Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car to All Black Kees Meeuws.
