46 trips around the sun and feeling wildly, ridiculously lucky to still be here, surrounded by people I love so much!This year, people managed to surprise me twice, which is a feat in and of itself because I am nosy, suspicious, and deeply difficult to surprise.First, Aaron made my literal otter dreams come true by secretly booking us a swim with Asian small-clawed otters. We got to feed them, swim with them, and hold them while they napped like tiny perfect angels. Best hour of my life. I am not exaggerating. My soul left my body and came back fuzzier.Then today, some of my nearest and dearest surprised me with lunch at State of Grace, because when wine friends become best friends, the birthday gods really do show off. Huge thank you to Matt Crawford and Chef Ryan for such an amazing lunch.And the wines? Fucking aces. Every single bottle was delicious, but the Krug 168 is absolutely hitting its stride and the 2000 Lafite was very much a holy shit moment.Forty-six feels pretty damn beautiful from here. Grateful, loved, surprised, full, and apparently one step closer to becoming an otter full-time. by @junerodil

We’re hiring a SOMMELIER, aka someone who loves the floor, loves wine, loves people, and understands that the restaurant is not a backdrop for the wine program. The restaurant IS the point.We’re looking for a hospitality-first wine human who can move with grace, sell with warmth, read the room, support the team, and keep their admin life together without disappearing during the exact moment the dining room needs them most 😉Yes, there will be tastings. Yes, there will be list work. Yes, there will be inventory, education, vendor conversations, cellar things, tiny details, big feelings, and probably (okay for sure and lots of) Champagne.
