This place exists.

This is not a hotel. This is not a yoga studio. This is 18 hectares of private jungle in the Riviera Maya — with a cenote, a pool that winds through the trees, and spaces that look like nothing you’ve ever trained in. We’re bringing @handstandfiesta here. March 2027. Follow for updates. 🌿 @jungle.fiesta taken in Playa Del Carmen Mexico by @jungle.fiesta

“As we adapt the body to the technique we also need to consider when it’s appropriate to adapt the technique to the body.” – Mikael Kristiansen

Mikael Kristiansen is a circus artist educated at DOCH, Stockholm, who has been working internationally as a teacher and performer for over 15 years.

As a teacher, Mikael focuses on the relationship between biomechanics, physics and technique. He aspires to cultivate both the physical and the mental parts of handbalancing for a deeper understanding of the practice.

While staying true to efficiency and technique, his research into handbalancing training is directed towards individual differences, both when it comes to bodies and learning strategies.

Where you’ll sleep

60 private studios, each one different. Some look like they grew from the jungle floor. All of them open to trees, orchids, birdsong, and warm air. You will sleep unlike anywhere you’ve slept before. March 2027 · Riviera Maya 🌿 taken in Riviera Maya, Mexico by @jungle.fiesta

Training this hard for five days needs more than just training.

The September edition builds in restorative and warm-up sessions; yoga, flexibility sessions, Thai massage to keep your body recovering, and a show night where the whole group performs and celebrates the week together. Last day closes with a proper Valencian paella.

It’s not just a workshop schedule — it’s a complete week.

Sept 15–19 · Valencia · Vegan meals included. Link in bio.
