This Saturday 5 September!

Warehouse Tapes is an ongoing dig through the archive of the early rave continuum, each edition exploring a different chapter in the story of 90s dance music, taking a look at where today’s sounds come from.

For this one, we’re so happy to have SAUD back from Belgrade for another round. A local favorite by now, he will be joined alongside the heavy hitters in Rubbishhh, Yasmeen and junior, each bringing their interpretations of this period and the many paths that grew from that fertile ground.

Opening another tape with each edition, we go back through the sounds that moved through warehouses, radio and dubbed cassettes before the internet was a thing, leaning into overlooked cuts, timeless classics, and a lot of what was inspired by this.

This second tape moves into the years when the techno, acid house, breakbeat and other influences of the time began mingling, and dance was pushed into even stranger, harder or faster territory.

Whether revisiting such records or discovering them for the first time, these tunes share the moments when the codes of the dance floor were being rewritten in real time.

Tickets:

Presale 10$
At the door 15$
After 1am 25$

Once it settles into homes and routines, music quietly becomes part of everyday life. Around that, homes develop their own audio systems and the habits around them. It’s not only the speakers, players or setups that stick, it’s the music that finds its place with us, stays in rotation, fills the rooms, hosts friends, and accompanies us.
Domestic Audio Systems invites artists to open up theirs, sharing selections from their own collections and another side of their musical world outside their usual performances. From records, tapes, CDs, files, and everything in between, the music they return to, play for themselves, makes them move, and that has earned a lasting place in their personal systems.
Metro will shift accordingly on that night, rearranged into a more familiar setting where we move from discoveries and close attention into movement and dance. A space where the distance between selector, sound system, and room becomes more intimate than usual.
Gathering around shared collections and open ears, music that feels just as at home on a dance floor as it does everywhere else.

Warehouse Tapes is an ongoing archive of the early rave continuum, with each edition exploring a different chapter in the story of subterranean dance music, as a way of understanding where today's sounds come from.
Opening another tape with each edition, we’re tracing the sounds that moved through the warehouses, radio and dubbed cassettes before the internet was a thing.
Forgotten anthems, overlooked cuts and timeless dance floor moments.

We are very happy to have long time hero and one of the pioneers Rabih Beaini, Junior, and Carla Lover each bringing their own perspective to this chapter, tracing the many paths that grew from that fertile ground.

Before online playlists and algorithms, music travelled differently. It lived on white labels, pirate radio broadcasts and cassette tapes passed from one person to another.
These recordings carried the sounds of acid house, breakbeat hardcore, techno from belgium, new beat, bleep, early jungle and countless other scenes that transformed warehouses into dance floors and changed club culture forever.

For our first tape, we travel to Belgium at the turn of the '90s, a small country that left an outsized mark on dance music. Between smoky clubs, record shops and warehouses, where a distinct sound emerged: darker, harder and stranger than much of what surrounded it. New beat slowed things down before speeding them back up, acid met with EBM, techno clashed with pop sensibilities, and the foundations of european rave began to take shape.
These records didn't stay in Belgium for long. They travelled across borders on white labels, in record bags and on dubbed cassette tapes, influencing dance floors from London and Rotterdam to Frankfurt and beyond.

Whether you're revisiting these records or discovering them for the first time, this is an invitation to dance, listen and dig deeper.

Long overdue but the pause made this one worth the wait🔥

Saturday 13 June, 2026, 11:30pm- 6am

After two strong editions, Metro Al Madina welcomes back Frequent Defect for a third collaboration on the Grime and Punishment series.

For this edition, Yasmeen, DAO, Junior and Bakisa will come together for another extended exploration of bass-driven sounds.

Celebrating music as cultural phenomena, this series reveres the weird cornucopia that is grime, the grubby energy of UK garage, and the more recent revival in the regional sphere. Perceived as a direct untainted and reactive reflection of modern societies and cultures, we’re keen to hear what the commentary on the present situation will be.

Expect trap, grime, bass, jungle, hip hop, rap, footwork, limb work and all kinds of work.

Tickets:
• Presale (limited) — $15
• At the door — 20$
• At the door after 2am — 25$

Smoking is allowed during this event.
