✨👑✨I. MET. THE. QUEEN!!!✨👑✨ After a surprise sequence of events that only the Universe could curate (& with a stomach full of delicious churro), I found myself suddenly being presented to the Queen & her Court, thus anchoring into a most magical frequency where this mind-blowing photo now exists within the constructs of history! Huzzuh!!! 🤯🙌🏻👸🏻 To the two Noble Ladies who conspired to make this happen, your kindness touched my heart. 💗😭 And to the reigning Queen, exquisitely played with such poise & grace by Christina Forst, thank you for giving me a few dedicated moments of your time, & such an epic photo op to boot! I have been coming to the @renaissancepleasurefaire for just about 30 years now, since my high school days in Chicago. My two best pals who I worked with in the video store introduced me to the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Kenosha, & when I moved to LA, I was elated to find I could still attend the Faire in Devore, & now Irwindale. 🙌🏻 The Spirit of the Faire smiled upon me most graciously this past weekend, as I was approached in the back of the audience & told I would be presented to the Royal Court... The Noble Lady took my hand & guided me up the aisle to the Queen, who asked me who I was & what she could do for me. I bowed & replied, "I am the Lady Juniper, Duchess of Cadbury. 🍫🐣 I've been a fan for many, many years, & I would just love a photo with you." And the Queen & her Court delivered. 📸 Later, after the sun set over the Beignets, & I finally found my car in the dark, I ceremonially disrobed, chuckle-sobbing as 3 decades of Faire memories flooded through my head with friends & family. I missed the video store, & all the younger versions of me that exist within the Faire's timeless multiverse...my old days of "yore". What obscenely good fortune to own such precious recollections... Being seen by the Queen felt like graduation. Like I earned my Ren Faire black belt. She is so cool & elusive. 😎 The evening breeze felt amazing as I stood there under the stars for a good while longer in peaceful solitude, watching the parade of headlights exiting the Santa Fe Dam. ✨Goodbye To Our Sweet Maisie✨ The price of love is always tears, & my Chicago crew & I are going through it. But every tear has been worth it. If dogs are indeed Man's Best Friend, Maisie took her MBF job title seriously, cramming decades of magic & hilarity into the 5 years we had with her... Our heads (& hearts) are practically spinning as we look back in wonderment at the impact she had on our family. 😭❤️‍🔥 My brother @mikey0241 & @teresayocum83 brought Maisie into our world in 2020 during the pandemic. What a gift to us in such uncertain & frightening times. Her precocious first meeting with me over Zoom will remain immortalized on my feed forever. She took awlla my heawt right then & there & never let it go. 😷❤️‍🩹 She bonded with me over aliens & was the Queen of Doggie Daycare. So many suitors, yet she only had eyes for Franklin. Speaking of eyes, her scathing side eye never ceased to crack us up & she knew it, so she did it every chance she got. 👽👀 She loved Range Rovers, scooters, & even drove her own tractor. If she caught a ball or fake snowball in her mouth & decided it was hers, you could forget about ever getting it back. Like, absolutely forget it. 🚜⚾️ Her daily mission was to eat as much food as she could get, & she would stare mercilessly at us any time we feasted. She was desperate for all things forbidden, including Rainbow Cone. Mike & I will never forget the night we were leaving Rainbow Cone & he noticed Maisie was IN an old timey photo of the Rainbow Cone founder on the wall, chillin' with him in his yard. As if she time traveled in a desperate attempt to obtain some sweet scoops. Yeah she was THAT magical. 🤯🍦 She always did her best to help us with chores & showed an active interest in my crystal singing bowls. She was our ride or die. She brought my family together. We gathered each night during my holiday trips back home to play with her & laugh our jolly heads off at her antics. We were practically drunk on her cuteness. We lost ourselves in her authentic & gentle nature. She brought us fun & unconditional love. She adored being held & having her belly rubbed & booped your hand if you stopped. ✨SWIRLS & STRIPES✨ When I first moved to LA at the turn of the century, I went to a used bookshop in Los Feliz with some friends, found a book called "Crystal Enlightenment; Vol. I" by Katrina Raphaell, devoured the whole thing in amazement thinking, what the hell is THIS sorcery?! ...and then bought it. I've been fascinated with crystals, frequency & energy since then, & I think that was by design. The power pieces always find & shift me at key intervals. But what do I know, logically? Honestly nothing. This post sounds ludicrous to my brain so far.😅💫💎 I rarely have the opportunity to dress up & leave the apartment, so imagine my delight to find myself at @crystalariumla - one of the only crystal stores I could haunt back in the day (way before crystals went mainstream) - as their Saturday DJ last month with my 13 Crystal Tones singing bowls. This felt like a graduation, & a chance to soften into my Divine Femininity & Empress Energy. A cosmic layover on my side quest to help us all remember how powerful we are. Bring our majesty to light.✨👑✨ This felt especially nice, since I spend the majority of my days leaning into my masculine energy... working remote at my corporate job & floor grappling in Jiu-Jitsu. I excitedly received my third Blue Belt stripe on June 11th, & couldn't play it cool to save my life. 😂 I definitely feel called to keep showing up.✨🥋✨ Jiu-Jitsu is actually one of the most spiritual things I do. It forces me to confront conflict. Who & how am I going to be in those moments? It invites me to practice staying present & going with the flow. It makes me have to communicate my needs & ask for help. That's tough. It literally grounds me (which is needed since I'm usually out of my body.) It familiarizes me with discomfort so I can alchemize it in my daily life. I appreciate the bonds & human connection. It's an alternate universe of profound mental & physical exploration. A timeline of endless ego deaths & confidence-building.✨ Thanks so much to Crystalarium crew @crystal.whisperer & @bagoasdances & to @flowmastermikejj at @graciejiujitsubeverlyhills !!! ✨DEVOUR YOUR REALITY✨ In Southern California they literally took a huge recreational dam area and turned it into a medieval village where, for two months a year, you can dress up and pretend to be in a different time period for a weekend. This fantastical fever dream exists for $37.00 per adult with a triple AAA discount. For one whole Saturday or Sunday you can forget about your stupid stressful job, and your stupid modern human responsibilities like getting a stupid new passport photo taken, and filing your stupid taxes, and getting a stupid smog check done at a stupid Star Certified Station, and walk around proudly like glittering royalty, like you live in a thriving castle nearby, and feast on wild game but also modern fare like fudge, churros and rootbeer floats. I will tell these Renfaire tales to all the nurses who care for me when I'm 100 years old and on my deathbed and they will be like, "Whut, are you even serious?" because by then Renfaire will only exist in virtual reality along with rootbeer, churros and fudge. Make your sacred memories now with reckless abandon. And love what and who you love as hard as you can with reckless abandon. Destiny is like a relay, featuring you in sexy running shorts carrying out an inspired desire as fast and as far as you can take it, before ultimately handing it off to the scary Unknown. Renfaire was an inspired desire first. Then we all showed up in droves. What you want may be what everyone wants. ✨PTERODACTYL ALCHEMY✨ Last weekend I canoodled around San Diego with family for my birthday, and we encountered a lot of nature. In two particular locations on Sunday, I made grand gestures at the lush scenery and kiddingly announced, "Welcome... to Jurassic Park", while obnoxiously singing the theme song to make everyone chuckle.✨🦖✨ A few hours later, en route to a parking garage downtown, as I watched San Diego's St. Paddy's Day nightlife commence out my backseat window, I caught sight of a red pickup truck parked at a meter with the Jurassic Park logo on the driver's side door. I admit I sat frozen for a few moments taking it in.✨🦕✨ I think I'm pretty much to the point now where I'm ready to be done pretending synchronicities are random and magical. To me, they seem to be clear, legitimate messages, and totally normal. They remind me that we are always in dialogue with the Universe with our Frequency, and when we live in the Frequency of play and joy, the Universe talks back to us. ✨SACRED TAPE✨ It took me 40 months to get back to Jiu-Jitsu. I often wondered if that part of my life was over. Following lockdown, I spent the next 3 years out of my body, exploring multidimensional vortexes, past lives & crystal Bowls. Blissing out in highly meditative states was a welcomed respite from all the traumas playing out on the physical planet. I really got to know myself, first in isolation/separation, then in Frequency/Oneness. I healed a ton. I transformed.💫 Then...this spring. Out of nowhere, a sudden re-activation from within. A pull to return to my body. To ground in. To commit to this 3D human experience with more consistency & discipline. And nothing grounds you into your body, into the present moment, & into the actual earth, more than Jiu-Jitsu. In my gi, I'm outta the rocket & back on Ground Control duty.🚀 This second Stripe took me over 4 years to earn & when I think about how many versions of Me exist in this Stripe it blows my mind: The old Me from 2019, the Me that stood in the Great Pyramid, & the Me who returned to the mat to do more hard things with brand new wisdom.💫 Before class today I mused, wouldn't it be cool if we had Jiu-Jitsu call signs? Like the Top Gun pilots? I read they're given to you as a right of passage. Well, walking out of class tonight I found a card on the ground: SLOTH. Sloths latch on well, ooze patience & simplicity, are slow, deliberate and methodical, & have big funny smiles. I'd say that's my BJJ game in a nutshell.
